CLA is currently seeking a Manager or Director to join our Accounting Methods and Credit Services practice.

This is an opportunity to lead our Accounting Methods practice area and make an important impact on our specialty tax services area of CLA.

The role will require tax accounting methods experience with a strong emphasis in leading and developing this practice area, as well as revenue recognition and cost recovery issues. The work includes developing new clients and the identification of significant recurring tax saving opportunities for clients as well as assisting clients with regulatory, compliance, IRS and Industry issues.

The Day to Day:

  • Assistance on federal tax consulting services, accounting method assessments, design and implementation of projects related to revenue and expense recognition, capitalized items, fixed assets and inventories

  • Reviewing Form 3115s (Application for Change in Accounting Method)

  • Communicating directly with client personnel, including operations, finance, accounting, and engineering

  • Managing and implementing multiple projects simultaneously, which include client interviews, computations, analysis, data gathering and coordination of CLA and client resources

  • Assisting with drafting opinion letters, responses to IRS inquiries, IRS ruling requests and writing other technical memoranda

  • Developing and sustaining excellent client relationships and assist in business development efforts or service as a subject matter expert in accounting methods and credit services.

  • Independently reviewing and interpreting current and proposed legislation in relation to tax accounting methods and other related tax saving opportunities

What you'll need to succeed:

  • You have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • You have an active CPA certification. A JD may be accepted in place of CPA certification.

  • You have a minimum of 6 years of experience serving in a tax role with a public accounting firm and/or a professional services firm.

  • You demonstrate outstanding expertise in an area of accounting methods, have a solid track record of developing effective client relationships, and build effective teams to serve our clients.

  • You jump at the chance to help others, and you're ready to lead a team of high-performing people.

  • You have a knack for solving issues and confidently bring solutions to the table.

Duties may include: * Providing advice with respect to tax consequences of business transactions, including the research, review, documentation, and implementation of tax positions that support these transactions * Undertaking projects to respond to business and tax law changes, including optimizing global value flows and reviewing the characterizations of software sales and assessing associated withholding tax costs * Supporting transfer pricing requirements, including creating and updating transfer pricing reports, consensus determinations and preparation of related documentation * Supporting the setting and testing of tax requirements in ERPs system * Assisting in M&A due diligence and integration activities, including the integration of newly acquired IP into global structures, and assisting with coordinating and determining the tax implications of global legal entity integration project Required Experience, Education and Skills: The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience: * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
