Member of the Tax team with a focus on Corporate Income Tax requirements for the company and its US subsidiaries including computation, payment, audit defense, systems improvements, and implementation. Significant interaction with other areas of the Tax Department and business units regarding current corporate tax issues and prior issues currently under tax audit. Also aligns with international tax team.
Work with a team of tax professionals who are dedicated to maximizing the company's overall tax position, including with respect to corporate income tax issues for all divisions and in the more than 40 domestic jurisdictions where the company has operations.
This position is responsible for:
Preparation of Federal and State tax compliance
Preparation of US tax provision; assist with global tax provision and related financial statement disclosure; ASC 740, FIN 48, SOX, and FAS 123R compliance
Supporting corporate federal income tax audits and leading state and local tax audits
Research credit and Section 174 calculations
Participating in the management of company's worldwide tax strategies
Integration of tax compliance of acquired/divested companies
How you will make an impact:
Prepares and/or reviews the US Federal and State tax compliance and filings for Wiley's worldwide tax structure
Preparation of domestic tax provision. Prepare US deferred taxes and roll-forwards
Prepare year end schedules and audit memos needed for footnote, FIN 48, and other tax disclosures
Maintain support for compliance with SOX
Prepares schedules to support complex calculations such as depreciation/amortization, LIFO inventory tax values, stock compensation, research credit etc.
Assists with the implementation of new legislation / regulations or changes in the business to determine the impact on Wiley's tax
Assists with research and planning for federal and US international issues
Provides support for strategies and research needed to respond to auditors.
Performs tax compliance for acquired/divested US companies
Tax compliance software liaison. Improves utilization of tax compliance software to improve efficiency of tax filings
Research and guide other groups regarding nexus issues and compliance with state / local filings.
What we look for:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting
Master's Degree in Finance/Accounting preferred
CPA preferred
6-10+ years of well rounded experience in corporate taxation
Tax Accounting experience specifically, ASC 740, 123R, FIN 48, and SOX compliance
US Federal tax compliance experience
SAP experience preferred
Knowledge in federal and state/local taxation and tax accounting matters - specifically ASC 740, FIN 48, SOX and 123R
Public accounting familiarity
Strong analytical and computer skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Hands on and highly organized
Deadline oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Strong time management/interpersonal skills
Management capabilities to grow and assume additional responsbilities
Ability to cross-train and support talented tax team building effort
Ability to enhance accuracy and efficiency to the tax compliance processes
