Perkins & Cos Portland, OR, and Vancouver, WA, offices are open without restrictions. We are hiring nationwide, with more than 1/4 of our workforce being fully remote from outside the Portland and Vancouver metro areas. Most of our local team has autonomy to decide whether to work on-site, remotely, or hybrid. Interviews will be held virtually in most cases.

The work location for this role is flexible; we are open to a fully remote arrangement for candidates who are located in the United States. Candidates interested in relocating to the Portland area may be eligible for moving assistance. We are not sponsoring visas or hiring internationally.

Full-time managers are expected to work 2300 total hours/1375 billable hours annually, which means the busy season target is 45 - 50 hours/week with generally no expectation to work weekends. Salary begins at $112K, varying DOE and geographic location.

What's expected of a Tax Manager?

Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys developing lasting relationships with our clients so that they will entertain candid conversations about their life and businesses; by having a better understanding of who they are and what they do, we can produce a high-quality tax return and provide them with the most appropriate tax planning advice. Were looking for a hands on individual in both work style and client relationship skills; someone who is also passionate about developing the people on the team and values an environment where people strive to consistently grow.

Who qualifies?

5+ years of recent experience in public accounting, preferably in a large local/regional or Big 4 firm (paperless environment)
Experience with partnership returns (preferably real estate/construction clients) or S-corp, C-corp returns or HNW individual returns is required; SALT, ASC740, and personal income tax experience is preferred
Must be CPA licensed
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to give and receive both positive and constructive feedback
Strong attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills
Adept with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and tax software (CCH Axcess & Engagement a plus)
