Position Description Overview
Tax Manager will manage the review of returns, tax reporting, tax planning, and compliance functions of accounting staff in order to meet the goals of the tax department as they relate to the needs of the firm. Review and prepare corporate and partnership federal and state income tax returns
Manages Tax Accounting staff in performing department tax accounting activities. Works to optimize the tax obligation of the business unit.
Train, lead, manage, mentor and develop staff level team members
Ensures that all appropriate tax returns and payments are filed in a timely manner. May manage tax research and compliance activities also.
May perform duties inherent in a managerial role.
Responsible for reviewing key complex returns for risks and opportunities to provide additional service.
Prepare more complex projections, provisions and returns with accuracy and according to firm policies
While preparing and reviewing tax returns, organize work papers, maintain open item list and conduct self-review of work before submission to reviewer
Ability to organize facts, analyze, interpret information and perform research
Identify and develop alternatives for issues and consult with the Tax Director
Master firm's tax software, research technology tools and related products to accomplish work efficiently
Proactively manage assignments, clients and workload
BA in Finance or Accounting, 7 years experience in the tax accounting field, or equivalent.
Understanding of ASC740 and Tax Law
CorpTax system experience
Corporate tax and/or partnership tax returns experience
