Position Description Overview

Tax Manager will manage the review of returns, tax reporting, tax planning, and compliance functions of accounting staff in order to meet the goals of the tax department as they relate to the needs of the firm. Review and prepare corporate and partnership federal and state income tax returns

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages Tax Accounting staff in performing department tax accounting activities. Works to optimize the tax obligation of the business unit.

  • Train, lead, manage, mentor and develop staff level team members

  • Ensures that all appropriate tax returns and payments are filed in a timely manner. May manage tax research and compliance activities also.

  • May perform duties inherent in a managerial role.

  • Responsible for reviewing key complex returns for risks and opportunities to provide additional service.

  • Prepare more complex projections, provisions and returns with accuracy and according to firm policies

  • While preparing and reviewing tax returns, organize work papers, maintain open item list and conduct self-review of work before submission to reviewer

  • Ability to organize facts, analyze, interpret information and perform research

  • Identify and develop alternatives for issues and consult with the Tax Director

  • Master firm's tax software, research technology tools and related products to accomplish work efficiently

  • Proactively manage assignments, clients and workload

Job Requirements

  • BA in Finance or Accounting, 7 years experience in the tax accounting field, or equivalent.

  • Understanding of ASC740 and Tax Law

  • CorpTax system experience

  • Corporate tax and/or partnership tax returns experience

To accomplish this, the Office of Fair Lending (OFL) has a very robust Fair Lending function that oversees firm's compliance with fair lending laws. Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be a key member of the Office of Fair Lending and report to the Fair Lending Data Analytics and Model Governance Director. The individual will be responsible for: * Responsible for oversight of the FL Model Governance team that performs fair lending reviews of the line of business models (LOB) and also ensures that the fair lending analytics models are documented and validated in accordance with firm policies * Responsible for oversight of a unit that works with a team of decision science professionals to review and when needed develop best-in-class models for retail businesses * Responsible for coordinating with the Fair Lending Data Analytics team to create model documents to ensure compliance with the firms model governance policies * Responsible for ensuring that all of the LOB models reviewed are appropriately risk tiered and are in compliance with regulatory requirements and the Firm-wide fair lending policy * Provide guidance to team on how to review insights derived from the models and modeling exercise to support fair lending strategies * Ensuring the team is establishing relationships with the appropriate business partners in order to understand business processes, model governance requirements and their potential impact on fair lending outcomes * Working collaboratively with LOB, Risk Legal and Compliance partners * Excellent communications skills (written and oral), with the ability to effectively communicate with senior executives and regulators * Able to interface with internal clients and translate technical data into user-friendly reports * 5-10 plus years of management experience * Ability to lead and drive changes * 5-10 regulatory compliance experience * Preferred: * Advanced degree, MS, MBA or PHD * Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques, including logistic regression * Knowledge of model governance * Experience in fair lending * Experience in underwriting, pricing, risk policy/analytics related to mortgage and non-mortgage lending and financial reporting * Experience in SAS and relational databases such as Oracle; proficient in SQL; Jpmorgan Chase & Co.
