The Tax Equity Analyst Position

Sunnova Energy is seeking a Tax Equity Analyst to support the company's tax equity transactions from deal origination to financial close. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude and desires to accelerate their career in finance, is detail-oriented, has excellent analytical thinking and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple workstreams, and an appetite and aptitude for complex financial-engineering.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with tax equity investors, prospective investors, and lenders to negotiate, track and manage tax equity transactions

• Assists in preparing and maintaining base-case tax equity models

• Prepares and manages due diligence trackers, materials, and data rooms

• Organizes marketing materials and opportunity proposals, presentations, and diligence documents with counterparties

• Aids in structuring transactions, research, analysis of existing or potential tax equity transactions

• Works with the finance team to help manage, prepare and provide support on the management of the weekly allocation of Sunnova's assets into various tax equity funds through a "tranching" process

• Provides analysis for recent trends in the tranching process as well as forecasting anticipated future changes related to tax equity portfolios

• Produces consistent and detailed analysis for the benefit of the capital markets team when preparing closed tax equity transactions for various financing opportunities

Minimum Requirements

• Undergraduate degree; 3.0 GPA
• Strong academic performance in business administration, economics, finance, mathematics, political economy, or related disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant experience in banking or in a finance-oriented role

• Knowledge of accounting and transaction impacts on financial statements

• Experience with management accounting

• Skilled in identifying problem-causes and effectively interpret results using root-cause analysis

• Proficient using business integrated systems such as Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint; highly proficient using Excel

• Ability to research, identify and solve problems independently or with minimal assistance

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with executive management, colleagues, and external stakeholders clearly and concisely

• Comfortable with ambiguity; ability to work well under pressure and within short time constraints of a complex, integrated business environment

• Efficient time-management, self-discipline, and ability to prioritize are essential

• Work effectively as a team player

• Think strategically to develop and adapt new processes
