Summary:

Under minimal supervision directs all operational functions of assigned departments or teams. Employees in this job class plan and execute business strategies for services and business development; coordinate and integrate activities with peers and/or other departments; and assume responsibility for profit and loss results. A Director has similar responsibilities as a Partner, but without ownership. This job class requires knowledge of advanced accounting principals and industry expertise and the ability to lead a variety of business and operational functions, maintain positive client and employee relations and produce high-quality results for the firm. This candidate would ideally specialize in high-net worth, s-corps, c-corps and LLC preperation, review and returns.

Essential Functions:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent; Master's degree strongly preferred.

  • CPA license in good standing.

  • Minimum of ten years' experience in public accounting.

  • Minimum of seven years' experience in tax (five of which should be in a management position).

  • Demonstrated success in leading and motivating subordinates.

  • Full competence in subordinates' duties and tasks.

  • Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow and reassign as necessary.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects, especially long-term.

  • Proven leadership and business acumen skills.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.

  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.

Job Overview: Manages all significant aspects of the tax function at Datadog, with a particular focus on interacting and managing 3rd party tax advisors, participating in the development of tax strategy, and preparing tax provision calculations and tax returns to ensure that the financial reporting for Datadog properly reflects its income tax expense and liabilities. Knowledge of sales tax, sales and local taxes, R&D tax credits and transfer pricing preferred. Major Accountabilities: * Lead tax planning initiatives while ensuring we remain compliant with enacted and pending legislation which can impact the Company's tax footprint * Review interim and year-end state and local provision, in accordance with ASC 740 * Review of apportionment details supporting state returns and planning initiatives * Review of tax returns and provision - which are prepared by a Big Four accounting firm * Interface with tax authorities (as required) for tax examinations and other inquires initiated by various tax agencies * Conduct a review of current sales and use tax processes and assist with transition initiatives currently underway * Provides guidance and leadership to tax department staff and outside consultants while employing strong project management skills * Serves as a consultant to Finance and other Business Partners by providing tax information and advice * Responsible for adherence to policies that create a strong internal control environment * Interface with members of the Finance department and other colleagues within the organization on tax planning initiatives including mergers and acquisitions, structuring of transactions and other tax opportunities permitted Education (preferred): * Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and a professional designation, such as CPA, JD, LLM, MST Knowledge/Experience (preferred): * 8+ years extensive knowledge in corporate and international taxation with an emphasis on dispute resolution, coupled with tax provision experience; overall work experience will be the overriding factor when considering years of experience * Experience with SaaS related business is a plus * Big 4 accounting or law firm background and prior corporate tax department experience Skills/Abilities: * Ability to interpret and apply tax law * Proven ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a fast-paced, changing environment * Ability to organize, manage and work effectively to accomplish multiple tasks while working independently * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel specifically) and ability to navigate within various tax software programs * Demonstrated ability to work independently and in groups to complete time-sensitive projects within internal and external deadlines * Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work with people at all levels in the organization The Company: Datadog is a monitoring service for hybrid cloud applications, assisting organizations in improving agility, increasing efficiency, and providing end-to-end visibility across the application and organization.
