Tax Analyst / Clerk

Job Description

Hamilton Company is looking for a Tax Analyst / Clerk. This individual will support the tax department for all US subsidiaries. The Tax Analyst / Clerk duties will include research and analysis to minimize tax liabilities and ensure that tax affairs are conducted in accordance with tax laws and regulations.

Essential Job functions:

  • Tax research & analysis

  • Manage customer files containing exemption certificates and research requirements for valid exemption certificates that will pass state audit inspections

  • Running monthly exemption certificate campaigns

  • Assist answering internal and external customer questions and issues related to obtaining and maintaining valid exemption certificates

  • Calculate and process sales tax credits based on exemption documentation

  • Assist on the administration of state and local tax audits

  • Prepare sales detail for auditors

  • Prepare basic tax returns

  • File and maintain annual business licensing requirements

  • Assist on special tax projects as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret state and local sales tax laws and regulations;

  • Ability to write memos, reports and business correspondence;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook;

  • Strong organizational skills & attention to detail;

  • Strong communication skills - both oral and written;

  • Team-player, customer-centric attitude;

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently and as an effective member of a team;

  • Ability to balance work across multiple projects;

  • Enthusiasm, initiative and pride in work

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • BS Degree in Finance or Accounting or Equivalent Work Experience Preferred

THE JOB JOB SUMMARYProvides systems support in the end-user computing environment. Assists in the identification of needs and development of end-user system solutions through evaluation and selection or design of appropriate applications. Assists in implementation of applications through testing, documentation and training. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Meets with middle and upper management to determine application requirements and follows through after implementation to determine areas of concern. * Advises user departments about feasibility and functional design along with impact to operations. * Documents systems for end-users; user reference materials and training aids. * Analyzes existing system problems and makes suggestions for corrective action. * Understands base application components, i.e. file structure, file relationships, etc. * Understands and utilizes Query tools. * Maintains confidential nature of matters pertaining to company records and policies. * Leads the planning and implementation of projects. * Facilitates the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables. * Defines project tasks and resource requirements. * Develops full scale project plans. * Assembles and coordinates project staff. * Plans and schedules project timelines. * Provides direction and support to project team. * Maintains quality assurance. * Continuously monitors and reports on progress of assigned projects to management. * Presents status and other reports defining project progress, problems and solutions. * Implements and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS * Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel. * Training or project management experience. * Must have strong troubleshooting abilities and be detail oriented. * Excellent computer, math and writing skills. * Must have ability to communicate complex ideas, processes to non-IS personnel in order to implement system changes in other departments. EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * College degree in computer science or related field or equivalent preferred. * Requires 4-5 years' experience as an analyst or troubleshooting within the casino or similar industry.
