The Tax Accountant is responsible for all tax reporting and payment processes, in accordance with all the State and Federal tax reporting requirements. He/she prepares/files all required Federal and State tax forms for In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) wages. He/she notifies the State of required tax payment amounts; receives/ records notifications from the IRS to the State. He/she provides mandatory tax updates in compliance with all applicable tax laws. He/she updates the system with new values and rates related to tax deductions and reporting for each tax year. He/she coordinates all quarterly/annual tax deposits. He/she maintains all tax records, returns, schedules, and statements. He/she processes all FICA and SDI refunds, and provides all services supporting W-2, W-2c services. He/she submits UI, ETT, DI, and PIT withheld with a completed Payroll Tax Deposit (DE 88) quarterly. He/she is responsible for contractual deliverables.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide all tax reporting and payment processes, in accordance with all the State and Federal tax reporting requirements.

  • Prepare and file all required Federal and State tax forms for all In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) wages.

  • Notify the State of required tax payment amounts; receive and record notifications from the IRS to the State, identifying that the transfer of the tax payment is complete.

  • Use the existing Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) to report Social Security and Federal unemployment tax on behalf of all IHSS recipients qualifying as employers for such benefits.

  • Provide mandatory tax updates in compliance with all applicable tax laws.

  • Updates the system with new values and rates related to tax deductions and reporting for each tax year as defined by Federal and State tax laws and publications.

  • Coordinate all quarterly and annual tax deposits as defined in IRS and Employment Development Department (EDD) publications.

  • Maintain all tax records, returns, schedules, and statements pursuant to the Code of Federal Regulations.

  • Process all Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) and all State Disability Insurance (SDI) refunds.

  • Provide all services supporting W-2 and W-2c reporting processes.

  • Mail a W-2 form to each provider by January 30th of each year; enter and maintain W-4 and DE 4 forms and records; update W-4 and DE 4 information no later than ten (10) State business days from the date of receipt.

  • Return all incorrect or incomplete W-4 and DE 4 forms to the individual provider, along with a letter stating the required remediation, no later than ten (10) State business days from the date of receipt of the W-4 or DE 4.

  • Accurately and timely submit all necessary Unemployment Insurance (UI), Employment Training Tax (ETT), Disability Insurance (DI), and Personal Income Tax (PIT) withheld with a completed Payroll Tax Deposit (DE 88), on a quarterly basis pursuant to EDD regulations.
