Position Overview

Fiducial is looking for an experienced Tax Accountant for their Columbia, MD office.

The Tax Accountant will work in a team environment providing tax compliance, reporting and researching services to our clients and will be primarily responsible for individual, corporate and partnership tax preparation during tax season.

Desired Skills/ Experience/Attributes

  • Must have minimum 5-7 years of experience preparing and reviewing tax returns.

  • Proven experience in technical tax competencies on individual, corporation, s-corporation and partnership matters.

  • Proven track record of solving both complex and practical problems

  • Experience providing research support or guidance on tax/financial issues for clients

  • Proven ability to handle a high-volume workload at a high level of efficiency

  • High proficiency with accounting and office software applications

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other business-related field preferred

  • Active PTIN required

  • Must have an active CPA license

KEY ROLE: The Staff Accountant will work with minimal supervision performing accounting duties to record, classify, examine, and analyze accounting transactions to ensure accurate and complete financial information. The accountant will collect, summarize, and analyze cost data for use in operational trends and preparing cost and financial statements. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager. DUTIES: * Responsible for a variety of accounting functions such as billings, collections, and payroll administration. * Responsible for preparing invoices on CP, T&M and FFP type contracts. * Supporting month end closing process, including account reconciliations related to roles and responsibilities. * Responsible for performing responsibilities in accordance with SOX requirements. * Assisting with preparation of budgets and financial audits. * Preparing specialized reports and analysis. * Applying an understanding of accounting principles in the analysis of financial data. * Evaluating multiple source data, applying financial and accounting principles and techniques, industry, business, professional, government and company standards. * Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications. * Sharing responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor. * Performing additional related assignments as needed. REQUIRED SKILLS: * 5 years of relevant accounting experience. * Experience in the preparation and management of invoices for a government contractor, to include CP-type billings. * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. * Experience with Deltek CostPoint. * Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Intermediate Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Skills. * Team player with the ability to deploy where needed. * Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to meet deadlines. * Sound interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers. * Ability to exercise discretion using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. * Excellent planning, time management and organization skills. DESIRED SKILLS: * Strong working knowledge of government contract types, billing types and requirements, and contract closeout requirements. * Working knowledge of WAWF, IPP, ExoStar a plus. * Experience with FFP, T&M and other types of billings for a government contractor. * Experience with payroll administration and timesheet administration for a government contractor. * Experience with SOX regulations and compliance. * Knowledge of federal acquisition laws and regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS) and agency specific regulations. * Ability to work with aggressive timelines, in a team environment, with a willingness to learn and grow.
