Our tax accountants make up the core of our tax preparation staff. This team is primarily responsible for the completion of federal & state individual, business, exempt & fiduciary tax returns. Tax accountants work closely with senior tax staff to ensure the accurate completion of workpapers and returns. Brenner provides staff with industry-leading tax preparation & research software to ensure you have all the necessary tools at your disposal, and are able to keep up with the changing tax law.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Prepare income tax returns from end-to-end, proactively requesting additional information and researching tax matters when necessary.
  • Work with tax review staff to make continued improvements upon areas of weakness.
  • Build upon your technical tax knowledge, and develop specific expertise as needed.
  • Develop internal relationships to foster a culture of collaboration.
  • Provide exceptional client service when called upon.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of tax write-up experience.
  • Exceptional written & oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills & attention to detail.
  • Able to manage priorities when simultaneously managing several projects.
  • Able to clearly & concisely summarize potential hazards and incomplete information during the tax preparation process.
  • Familiar with modern accounting tools such as Quickbooks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Able to work overtime during tax season as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of tax write-up experience.
  • Experience in a paperless work environment.
  • Proficient with Adobe Acrobat, or a similar PDF manipulation software.
  • Familiar with cloud-based accounting programs.
  • Familiar with Lacerte tax preparation software.
  • Familiar with CCH Engagement, and the Engagement Trial Balance utility.
  • Experience working directly with clients, requesting additional information, and providing client support.

Proficient in accounting procedures and have a strong accounting knowledge base. Requires ability to use a computer and utilize/navigate the internet, email and database systems. Ability to manage high-volume transactions Requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who can successfully multi-task and consistently meet deadlines. Well-developed, critical-thinking capabilities 5 years experience in Mid-Sized accounting software Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to interact on a positive basis with all levels of staff and customers. Duties and Responsibilities: The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position. It is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and, in addition, management as appropriate may modify this job description. * Assist in maintaining current accurate financial information for use with reporting using appropriate fund accounting methods (e.g., GAAP) * Code and enter cash receipts into the general ledger (Sage 100). * Work closely with other departments to maintain positive customer experience throughout the billing process to meet deadlines. * Prepare invoices and reports as directed by the fiscal standardize procedures and or funder inquiries format/template via website or direct with funders via email. * Accurately reconcile the balance for various accounts receivable, aging and collection reports. * Follow up with program managers and update them for outstanding receivables. * Monitor accounts receivable variance on delinquent accounts and take corrective action when necessary and inform funder for timeline payment as needed prior to contract end. * Collaborating with other billing team member for adjustment or credit memo timely. * Help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projects. * Works closely with the Controller on revenue recognition and allocation and maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls. * Participate in strategic planning for the Shangri-La * Represent and advocate for the organization in the community. * Engage in organization capacity-building activities. * Attend staff meetings. * Adhere to Shangri-La regulations and guidelines. * Provide excellent customer service to all Shangri-La customers including Shangri-La clients, staff, donors, logistics personnel, agency personnel, volunteers, board members, and the general public. * Engage in the following tasks or behaviors that represent excellent customer service: timely responses, punctuality and attendance, treating others with respect, distributing quality product, being knowledgeable and providing accurate information, and using appropriate non-verbal and verbal communication. * General Duties and Responsibilities: * Understands and incorporates Shangri-La's vision, mission, values, policies and procedures during work and as a representative of the Shangri-La Corporation. * Performs all duties in a safe manner, maintains a safe working environment, and reports all safety hazards immediately to site manager and/or direct supervisor. * Must attend and successfully complete all required orientation, training and health testing. * Maintains all required certifications and licenses throughout employment. * Attends and participates in required in-service training and meetings. * Performs other duties as assigned.
