Ponte Family Estate Winery opened in 2003 and is a California based company operating in the heart of the Temecula Wine Country. We have been farming our vineyards since 1984 and are a real working winery, growing and producing over 20 estate grown varietals within certified sustainable facilities.

We are located right next to our Four Diamond, 90 room, boutique hotel Ponte Vineyard Inn. We are surrounded by 300 acres of mature vineyards and views of rolling hills. We are a short drive from most of Southern California and enjoy hosting folks who want a break from city life. Our guests visit us seeking a relaxing day or overnight stay in the country.

We have become the benchmark for great service among Temecula wineries. Our associates are dedicated to delighting guests by providing excellent hospitality and serving great wine and food in a beautiful environment.

Summary:

The Tasting Room Supervisor will support the Tasting Room Manager, Wine Club, and be responsible for guest interaction; sales team supervision, inspiration, and meeting sales goals.

Compensation: $25.00 - $27.00 DOE

The Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following:

  • Minimum age of 21 years old

  • Understanding of wine, winemaking, customer service, tasting room operations, and the wine club business.

  • Proven experience in supervising a direct-to-consumer sales team of more than 15 associates in the wine industry.

  • Prior success in a fast-paced direct-to-consumer winery, specializing in member satisfaction, wine sales, and wine club memberships, while handling and resolving multiple guest issues at the same.

  • Comfortable using budgets, payroll, and commission calculations.

  • Ability to consistently meet tasting room goals in sales, service, and membership benchmarks in multiple heavy volume wine tasting areas.

  • Skills using Outlook, Excel, Word, Wine Direct, and multiple POS systems, and accurately typing at least 45 wpm.

  • Commitment to meet objectives in sales, service, quality, cleanliness, and appearance of the Tasting Room, the Reserve Room, and the Deck as set by the Tasting Room Manager.

  • Willingness to perform any other duties, as directed by the Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Data-Driven Duties

  • Analyze and assist with payroll reports, sales team rankings, and commission calculations.

  • Analyze and control expenditures of wine and non-wine sales, to meet budgetary requirements.

Leadership

  • Supervise three wine-tasting locations: The indoor Tasting Room, The indoor-outdoor Reserve Room, and the outdoor Deck.

  • Perform opening and closing duties, per company procedures.

  • Hire and train new associates.

  • Control cash and other receipts by adhering to proper cash handling and reconciliation procedures per company guidelines.

  • Work with the Tasting Room Manager to schedule labor as required by anticipating business activity and ensuring all labor cost objectives are met efficiently.

  • Be knowledgeable of winery policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair, and consistent corrective action for all violations of company policies, rules, and procedures, in conjunction with the Tasting Room Manager, Assistant Tasting Room Manager, and HR Department.

  • Fill in or assist staff where needed to ensure efficient operations.

  • Supervise associates and delegate tasks during each shift.

  • Coordinate with staff and the Facilities department to maintain a safe, clean, presentable, and friendly environment for associates and guests.

  • Maintain the FOH and BOH areas with safe and sanitary practices.

  • Adhere to the WISE Academy training and constantly review with associates.

Merchandising

  • Understand retail pricing and calculate retail margins and markups.

  • Order merchandise as directed by the Tasting Room Manager.

  • Create purchase orders, receive merchandise, and process all receiving-related paperwork.

  • Enter stock into the point-of-sale system, create barcodes, and tag all merchandise.

  • Follow up with vendors on damages, mistakes on orders, and late packages.

  • Display merchandise in attractive, safe, clean, organized, and effective ways to encourage sales.

  • Analyze top-selling items each month as well as review margins. Adjust prices and order, as necessary.

  • Take inventory monthly of all merchandise in the Tasting Room and Reserve Room and reconcile it in the point-of-sale system.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all merchandise storage locations.

Technology

  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, POS systems, and Inventory Control Systems.

  • Ability to type at least 45 wpm.

  • Proficiency in Vin65, TOCK, MICROS, POS system setup, data entry, and reporting.

  • Monitor and program the POS systems. Act as a liaison with Vin65 and TOCK on all POS issues.

  • Use mobile devices such as iPads and smartphones competently and professionally.

Safety Standards

  • Ensure the safety of guests and associates

  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, and county regulations that pertain to alcohol consumption safety and labor requirements of the Tasting Room, Reserve Room, and Deck.

  • Ensure the safety of guests and associates by maintaining a clean, safe, and secure Tasting Room, Reserve Room, and Deck are compliant with all required OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations, maintenance, and inspections.

  • Understand and be able to execute Tasting Room, Reserve Room, and Deck emergency response procedures, and provide calm, reassuring assistance to guests and fellow associates in the event of an emergency.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time including sitting at a computer using a mouse or a keyboard for long periods.

  • Physical demands and activity including but not limited to walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.

  • Be able to lift, lower, push, and carry up to 45 lbs.
