Atkins Nuclear is currently seeking a Task Lead to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for preparing work packages and conducting pre-job briefings for all personnel to be involved in the work. Ensures that work is completed in accordance with the approved work package and Job Hazard Evaluation (JHE).

JOB DUTIES

  • Manages the configuration management process for design change for each work package.

  • Briefs shift supervisor on the work package if he/she was not present at the pre-job briefing.

  • Conducts post-job brief to include any lessons learned that would be helpful in performing same or similar jobs in the future.

  • Ensures that work activities are performed in accordance with work packages.

  • Ensures that the personnel performing work tasks are properly trained and qualified.

  • Manages the task/project within scope, schedule and budget or available funding.

  • Coordinates and manages resources to complete work.

  • Provides performance feedback to team members.

  • Follows all applicable regulations for a Category 2 Nuclear Facility

  • Performs all work effectively, efficiently, safely and securely in support of organizational goals and objectives.

  • Supports activities on assigned tasks and responds to emergency situations, alarms or occurrences in an appropriate manner when trained to do so.

  • Manages and completes assigned tasks and projects to achieve established goals within time and resource restrictions, providing in-process feedback on opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensures work packages are closed out, including testing and administrative requirements.

  • Ensures materials/parts are ordered to support assigned tasks.

  • Develops work schedules and plans and holds planning meetings.

  • Provides input and helps resolve conflicts.

  • Serves as the project manager for assigned maintenance and modification projects. Establishes scope, prepares budget and enacts the modifications.

  • Establishes and ensures an open and supportive working environment where staff reports issues and concerns without fear of retribution.

  • Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Ability to perform construction and operations as it relates to nuclear processes

  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple resources in support of a nuclear project

  • Ability to prepare work control documents for scope tasks

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma

  • Three years nuclear experience

  • US Citizenship is required

Atkins Nuclear is currently seeking an Entry-Level Project Controls Specialist to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN. JOB SUMMARY * Entry Level Project Controls Specialist will focus primarily on providing project management support to the many projects across the program site. Functions include estimating costs and cost tracking, assisting with scheduling, tracking milestones and deliverables, and coordinating with project sponsors. RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform project controls oversight and integration. Responsible for: * Participates in and organizes meetings to identify project goals, gains consensus on project steps, schedule and implementation procedures and estimates project costs; fosters cooperation and involvement from team. * Financial data collection and preparation of weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual project status reports as requested by individual sponsors * Financial status and projection updates * Status of current deliverables and tasks * Estimates of ongoing/future deliverables and tasks * Information on any issues or risks associated with timely completion * Updates on meetings and/or trips relevant to the success of the project * Lead and/or participate in teleconferences with sponsors to discuss status, updates, financial status, issues, etc. * Lead and/or participate in weekly meetings with internal PI's and other project team members to assess schedule progress and status on deliverables. * Work closely with division finance officer to track spending and ensure the projects are on target * Managing project subcontracts for students and other subcontractors including providing funding estimates tracking end dates and incremental funding end dates to ensure no lapse * Advise on appropriate ways to manage spending and providing insight on general project management techniques that can improve the effectiveness of the overall management of the project EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's degree required; preferred in engineering, business administration, accounting or finance * Requires at least 1-2 years of solid experience in project controls, project management, or similar experience * Direct work experience on large construction contracts is preferred * Experience working within the Dept of Energy Complex a plus * Experience with project controls and reporting systems in use at other DOE projects is a plus * Working-level knowledge of P6 is a plus.
