Position Summary:

This position is responsible for performing various inspections including Visual, Ultrasonic, Radiographic, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant inspection of various tanks, vessels, components & piping throughout the BP Exploration Field. This position works with the Tank and Vessel Inspection Coordinators and reports to the contractors' Corrosion Site Superintendent. Internally this position reports directly to the Tanks and Vessels Crew Lead.

Essential job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:

Demonstrate and ensure an overall commitment to Safety and Quality.

Maintain required NDT level 2 certifications in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A and contractors NDE program.

Understand specific corrosion database systems and can look up the information necessary for preparation and reporting inspections.

Be familiar with and comply with all applicable Tank and Vessel Inspection Guidelines.

Work independently to perform inspections and other job duties unaccompanied at times

Work under the direction of the lead technician or coordinator, as a team. Education

High School Diploma or GED


Knowledge of various applications of NDT techniques and methods used to collect inspection data utilized in support of integrity management programs.

Coordinate inspection activities for efficient workflow.

Interface with Tank and Vessel Coordinators to determine inspection priorities.

Perform NDT Inspections on Pressure Vessels, Tanks, and various piping.

Maintain thorough and accurate documentation analysis from inspections performed.

Perform inspections and reporting in accordance with Tank and Vessel Inspection guidelines.

Special Requirements/Certifications

Required Qualifications:

ASNT Level 2 certifications for UT (full), RT, MT, and PT.

API 653 Certification

Valid driver's license with no restrictions

Pass a Background Check and Drug Screen

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience performing inspections under the guidance of a tanks and vessels integrity program.

API 653 Certification

Ultrasonic Shearwave Certification

Phased Array Certification

Automated Ultrasonic Certification

Magnetic Flux Exclusion Certification

Leak Testing Certification

NACE Cathodic Protection certification

Current IRRSP or State Radiographers Certification

Current IRATA Level 1 or higher certification

Physical Requirements Working Conditions:

Work extended hours in cold temperatures. Daily overtime will be required.

Physical Restrictions:

The overall physical health of the Individual should be well enough to allow them to:

Vision correctable to at least 20/40.

Climb stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolding up to 100 feet multiple times per day, utilizing three points of contact.

Able to safely carry up to 50 pounds with one hand. Must be able to climb stairs/scaffolding/ladder while holding handrail with opposite hand.

Able to work at heights up to 100 feet.

Able to work in a crouched position for extended periods. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more while in the crouched position.

Able to lift 65 pounds or more with a rope using hand-over-hand technique.

Able to work in confined spaces and repetitively bend and/or twist through small entryways.

Able to carry and effectively manipulate a twelve-to-sixteen-foot ladder.

Able to occasionally lift 50 pounds or more to shoulder level.

Able to walk, climb on, and maneuver on or around piping, piping supports while working in a crouched position.

Must have hand dexterity to manipulate camera source cranks.

Arm strength push/pull up to 50 pounds.
