The Tampa YMCA is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic group exercise instructor to teach one or multiple formats. Instructor must be an exceptional motivator as well as great at relationship building in our member-centered environment. The group exercise instructor will deliver multiple options and a great experience during each class. Classes may include, but not limited to: Water Aerobics, Aqua Zumba, etc.
Essential functions and responsibilities includes, but not limited to:
Instruct members in maintaining exertion levels to maximize benefits from exercise routines.
Monitor member's progress and adapt programs as needed.
Observe members and inform them of corrective measures necessary for skill improvement.
Evaluate individuals' abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develop suitable training programs to meet any special requirements.
Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment.
Completes all job related and other trainings as required.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Position requires a current group fitness certification. We accept all nationally recognized group fitness certifications (ACE, AFAA, SCW, ISSA, ACSM, NETA, NESTA, YUSA, and ASFA) and several specialty format certifications (such as Barre, BeachBody, Cycling, Les Mills, Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, etc.)
Experience instructing members in maintaining exertion levels to maximize benefits from exercise routines.
This position requires availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
This position requires group exercise instructor certification (NCCA accredited and/or specialty certification).
This position requires a minimum age of 18 years old.
This position requires a high school degree.
