The Kapor Center is a family of innovative and groundbreaking organizations that pursue innovative strategies to leverage capital and technology for positive, progressive impact. We are looking for an experienced Talent Operations Coordinator to provide operational support across our talent service programs.

The Kapor Center encompasses a private foundation, a for-profit investment partnership, and a non-profit 501(c)(3), plus supporting corporate entities. As a result, the work spans multiple platforms and strategies, and is organized into the following core areas:

Kapor Center -- Diversifying Tech

Through the development of innovative partnerships, programs, and cross-sector forums, Kapor Center is working to increase the presence and viability of underrepresented people of color and women of all backgrounds in the tech sector as producers, entrepreneurs, financiers, and thought leaders.

Kapor Center oversees a unique community space which includes meeting space for mission-aligned organizations and companies, office space for the centers staff and partners and a restaurant. Our new building allows for close collaboration between Kapor Centers many different programs and its community partners, all of which are dedicated to the empowerment of low-income and underrepresented communities.

Kapor Capital -- Venture Capital for Social Impact

Kapor Capital is our venture capital investment arm. We invest in seed stage tech startups that generate both economic returns and positive social impact. SMASH -- STEM Education for All

SMASH is a signature initiative of the Kapor Center, committed to eliminating the barriers faced by underrepresented people of color in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and fostering their untapped talent for the advancement of our nation. SMASH operates as a separate 501(c)(3) and is supported administratively by the Kapor Center.

The Opportunity

The Talent Operations Coordinator will support the sourcing, engagement, and retention of a diverse and inclusive, local talent network. To be successful in this role, you will need project management and operational skills, community engagement skills, strong attention to detail, high-quality standards, and the ability to make continuous process improvements. Responsibilities span a wide-range of operation work from network management, event support, and data collection.

Our Community Engagement efforts strive for Oakland to have a thriving ecosystem with equitable access to the tech sector. This means:

  • building and coordinating on-ramps into the tech sector through computer science education, workforce development, and connections to industry, for both school-aged youth and residents with non-traditional pathways
  • activating an ever-growing number of tech startups by founders of color through the Oakland Startup Network
  • fostering an inclusive tech sector that strengthens the Citys character and fabric through cross sector partnerships and collective impact
  • sharing and modeling what we learn and experience beyond Oakland

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Talent Services Director and working closely with leadership boards, the Talent Operations Coordinator will support:

1. Talent Network Management

  • Create and maintain network onboarding process
  • Communicate via Slack channels and email; respond to questions, share opportunities
  • Manage inbound requests from community and partners

2. Event Support

  • Execute annual ERG Summit in August and monthly professional development workshops
  • Coordinate logistics ranging from event marketing/advertising and registration, speaker engagement, vendor payments/contracts, post-event follow up

3. Data Collection

  • Create and deploy surveys about talent needs
  • Track entry and advancement of talent in CRM platform
  • Provide recommendations on how to improve talent processes to scale

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of community management, customer support, administrative experience

  • Have knowledge and curiosity about Diversity and Inclusion initiatives for Black and Latinx employees at technology companies
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: must display patience and helpfulness at all times front line contact for member issues
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding diversity data and personal information
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines

VIEW JOBS 10/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-16T00:00 Job Description: Summary of Position: Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Admissions Operations Coordinator is responsible for processing and ensuring the integrity of admission data and materials, managing applications throughout the admission cycle, supporting communications flow to prospective students and applicants, communicating to our prospective student population, and building out events and other initiatives using Technolutions Slate CRM. This position is part of the Admissions Operations staff and includes supervision of part time student employees. This position advances goals set out in the Mills Strategic Plan by helping the college achieve increased enrollment through greater numbers of new first year, transfer, and graduate students. Essential Job Functions: * Perform daily activities related to the regular maintenance and administration of the College's data systems with a focus on the Admissions CRM (Technolutions Slate). This includes but is not limited to processing data imports and exports; maintaining and updating queries; receiving, assessing, and inputting admission applications into a relational database; maintaining and updating admission data and files; * Manage the flow and coding of Undergraduate application files through admission cycle from review to completion, including preparing applicant files for review by the Admissions Committee, entering decisions, creating, printing, and mailing decision notification. * In collaboration with Admissions staff, build Admissions events, orientation and yield activities, and other initiatives in the CRM. Assist with on campus recruitment events . * Assist with management of communication projects including Undergraduate Admission decision notifications, personalized email campaigns, coordinating mailings of print communications, and managing responses to the Undergraduate Admission email inbox. * Manage Operations Ambassadors program, including hiring, scheduling, providing training, and mentorship. Collaborate with Ambassador Supervisory team. * Create documentation of existing and new processes and maintain documents as updates are implemented; create training manuals and instructions for staff. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: * Participate in department meetings for project planning and direction setting. * Perform back-up admission office receptionist duties. * Maintain safe work conditions and comply with established safety policies, practices, procedures, and requirements. * Perform related duties as needed. * Occasional weekend work required. Requirements: Knowledge of: * Advanced computer skills, including database programs, spreadsheet applications, and word processing software. * Knowledge of NACAC application guidelines and FERPA policies helpful.
