TALENT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

Acme Brick Company (a Berkshire Hathaway Company) is an organization of professionals in the manufacturing and building material distribution industry. We manufacture brick and distribute our own brick as well as brick and associated products manufactured by others. We operate in 15 states with a philosophy that we are much more than a brick manufacturer and distributor.

Summary

We are currently seeking a "best in class" highly motivated individual to establish, and continuously improve, a talent management and development function to help each associate reach their full potential. The chosen candidate will be responsible for supporting and guiding 2,000 associates and leaders across the company which will accelerate the growth and development of our entire company.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assess the talent management/development needs across the organization and formulate a strategy to deliver to these needs.

  • Conduct a needs assessment for online learning and implement the appropriate learning management (LMS) solution to support training delivery and management.

  • Act as a trusted consultant to both corporate and field partners to assess performance gaps, conduct needs analysis and prioritize learning and development efforts.

  • Design, implement and evaluate engaging learning activities, compelling course content and web-based programs to develop associates.

  • Build strong partnerships with field management and cross-functional business partners in evaluating, developing and delivering instructional materials.

  • Develop learning strategies and maintain programs that drive continued sustainment of all current and future learning and people development initiatives.

  • Design and launch a leader onboarding and development program.

  • Identify and launch a compliance training program.

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of best practices regarding talent management and development.

Skills and Experience Required for Success

  • 5+ years of experience in curriculum development and training delivery required.

  • 3+ years of experience in talent assessment, development and succession planning required.

  • 2+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment required.

  • Demonstrated experience with e-learning applications and web-based authoring tools, such as Captivate, Presenter, Articulate, InDesign

  • Exceptional knowledge of adult learning principles, methods and techniques used in the design and delivery of development solutions as they pertain to a manufacturing/distribution environment.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to convey strategies and complex information effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated experience with implementing and maintaining an LMS (learning management system)

  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs to talent management and development programs.

  • Experience in influencing leaders to gain commitment for new ideas.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and facilitate change.

Educational/Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, organizational development, education or similar required

  • CPLP strongly desired

  • Bilingual English/Spanish helpful

Travel Requirements
30-40% travel to plant and sales locations to stay in touch with our operations as well as deliver instructor-led training. Based in Fort Worth with travel throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and the southeastern U.S.

RESPONSIBILITIES * Build a diverse candidate pool through cold calling, proactive sourcing and identifying active and passive candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter, social media, job boards, internet sourcing, networking, employee referrals, and other technical or creative methods * Work with hiring managers to ensure hiring process moves forward, interview team preparedness and commitment to hitting hiring goals * Manage the candidate process, act as a candidate advocate, and utilize the Applicant Tracking System (Jobvite) to efficiently process and track candidates * Track recruiting goals and metrics for the region * Participate in various campus recruiting related events * Propose and assist with implementing ongoing improvements to recruitment efforts * Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times QUALIFICATIONS Required: * 5 years of recruiting experience, preferably for sales and/or advertising positions * Experience with applicant tracking systems * Extensive knowledge of/and experience sourcing and attracting candidates with LinkedIn Recruiter and other candidate sourcing methods and tools * Knowledge and success in executing a full-cycle recruiting process * Exceptional customer service focus combined with exemplary follow-through * Proficiency with MS Office * Proven organizational skills with ability to prioritize and work well in an environment with competing demands * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to take initiative and build strong productive relationships * Must be self-directed and work well on a distributed team Preferred: * Bachelor's degree * Proficiency with Gmail and G Suite * Proficiency with Jobvite #LI-MK1 The Mcclatchy Company Fort Worth TX
