General Information:

The Talent Development Department seeks an engaged, organized, energetic Graduate Assistant to support the design, delivery, and evaluation of our professional development activities. The Graduate Assistant's work will be guided by the Professional Development Specialist, and their activities will support functions across the Talent Development Department. This is a 20-hour/week position and requires work on-site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Graduate Assistant will work independently under the leadership of the Professional Development Specialist to:

Assist with general office duties for the Talent Development department, working independently under the leadership of the Professional Development Specialist.

Research specific content and trends to inform the development of workshops and other learning materials.

Assist with the design, development, and delivery of workshops and other professional development content, including updating existing content.

Update existing or assist in designing and developing new eLearning content.

Assist in recruiting, orienting, supporting, and providing continuing education for the Volunteer Facilitator Program.

Research evaluation methods to better gather, evaluate, and distribute post-workshop feedback.

Provide customer service and programming support for the Talent Development staff.

Maintain TD Training Resource Collection.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications include:

A Bachelor's degree

Acceptance into a JMU graduate program

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)

Strong time management and project management skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred qualifications include:

Knowledge of the adult learning theory

Experience developing content in Canva

Additional Posting Information:

This is a Full Academic Year Posting 2024-2025 with a standard stipend and 9 credit hours*

Conditions of Employment:

Students may apply to a graduate assistantship prior to being accepted into a graduate program. However, to be eligible to receive an assistantship upon entry into a graduate program, the following criteria must be met:

The student must be conditionally or unconditionally accepted into a graduate program. Students who are provisionally accepted will not be eligible until they achieve conditional or unconditional acceptance into their program.

The students must have an official transcript on file indicating completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or agency

After receiving an assistantship, the student must maintain at least a 3.0 graduate GPA in order to retain or reapply for the assistantship.

These are minimum criteria. Graduate program coordinators have the right to impose additional criteria if they see fit.
