The Talent Assessment Partner in conjunction with director of Accelerated Development and Assessments and Talent Acquisition teams, will be responsible for developing and executing the Assessment Strategy, including protocols and processes across the company. The manager will oversee a portfolio of existing assessments and consult on talent assessment needs across the business.


  • Build, refine and support new and ongoing programs as required by organizational need.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of assessment-related programs and support/facilitate improvements based on the evaluation.

  • Explore predictive indicators of job success and conduct validation studies around leadership identification, role effectiveness and career progression.

  • Provide governance and protocol for the organization's tiered assessment strategy

  • Provide individual coaching to leaders via 360 feedback sessions and other related opportunities as needed as well as share insight and expertise on organization/succession planning and high potential development.

  • Provide expertise to ensure the organization is current with the latest trends in the areas of assessment, leadership, and coaching.

  • Builds out Tiered Assessment Strategy (pre-hire and post-hire Leadership Development assessments).

  • Partners with HRBPs in identifying new assessment needs and pilots options to identify and validate best methods.

  • Provides coaching, training, and support to Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPS) related to assessment input in addition to upskilling in assessment feedback in derived from reports and related tools.

  • Reviews and maintains database of all Assessment reports and data.

  • Summarizes and presents research findings to Talent Management, HR partners, Talent Acquisition, and line managers for use in shaping recruitment, retention, and leadership development strategies.

Vendor Oversite

  • Oversees and maintains quality control of external psychological service providers and the organizationally mandated/approved assessment tools.

  • Reviews, reports on, and keeps current on best practices in assessment tools and evaluation methods related to leadership development. Leads vendor selection in content areas and manages vendor relationships.


  • Master's degree required.

  • Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, preferred.

  • 5-7 years practical experience in assessment practices, coaching and leadership development programs.


  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to engage across a diverse population from new hires up to senior leaders.

  • Plan, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of assessment programs and processes.

  • Comfortable with the design and analysis of validation and reliability studies related to measuring leadership potential and job success as well as database management and statistical analysis.

  • Strong influence and relationship building skills across all levels of an organization.

  • Superior communication skills including the ability to synthesize assessment data into clear insights and present in compelling, business orientated formats.

  • Plan, coordinate, and assign the work of others and lead functional workgroups.

The Senior Talent Development Specialist supports efforts to build and scale a robust Learning and Development platform, which powers US Foods' ability to unlock our talent potential. This role is critical to the continued success of our growing focus on employee development. This role is a key architect responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that facilitate leadership, professional and functional development and continuous learning of employees across the organization. This role oversees planning, designing, building, implementation, and delivery of training and development programs to support our field and corporate teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage current programs and develop improvements keeping current with business needs. Partner with leaders to define learning and development needs and key messages across stakeholders. Design appropriate strategies to address the technical knowledge and skill building needs and determine the best delivery channel. Design training materials and interventions to enable learners to apply what they have learned to establish or improve job performance. Implement processes and standards required to ensure instructional design quality, technology and overall learning effectiveness from storyboarding through implementation. Conduct comprehensive needs assessments, determine education, learning and development priorities based on the needs associated with the business impact. Partner with subject matter experts and business leaders to determine and implement highly effective learning solutions. Apply design principles for single, blended and/or action learning training programs that provide employees with the essential tools for job growth and success. Determine training plan to address performance gaps or opportunities for improved business results, considering cross-functional application. Collaborate with functional experts to determine whether to buy, rent or build the learning solutions. Work with cross-functional teams to solve performance and learning challenges. Apply a rapid design process starting with needs analysis to determine appropriate learning requirements, methodologies and modality. Partner with external consultants as required in project management capacity to develop programs. Identify ways to connect messages across the business landscape by reinforcing content provided to the learners in the context of the comprehensive list of business needs; leverage necessary roles and other materials where possible to streamline and minimize touch points to the learner. Incorporate most effective teaching methods and taxonomy – types of exercises, role play, teach back, instruction method, etc. based on learning need. Develop and conduct train the trainer sessions so that others are able to deliver the content and material effectively and as designed. Implement processes and standards required to ensure instructional design quality, technology and overall learning effectiveness from storyboarding through implementation. Develop measurement and accountability mechanisms that evaluate job readiness or performance, which enable continuous improvement. Perform as subject matter expert for learning. Perform role of facilitator or lead instructor as built into any given program. Education/Training Bachelor's Degree required in Instructional Design, Training and Development or Workforce Education. Master's Degree or equivalent experience preferred Related Experience 8-10 years of progressive needs analysis, instructional design, material development, instruction, training implementation, measurement systems and learning project management. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proficiencies: * Well versed in Adult Learning principles and teaching methods. * Versed in appropriate organization of training materials (Blooms Taxonomy). * Proficient in various prescriptive instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, AGILE, etc.) * Implement learning measurement and demonstration mechanisms.
