POSITION: Talent Acquisition Intern

TIMEFRAME: May to August 2019 (start date and hours worked are flexible)

REPORTS TO: Manager of Talent Acquisition

POSITION TYPE: Unpaid Internship (may be eligible for Class Credit)

LOCATION: Houston, Texas

YES Preps Talent team believes in creating learning opportunities for college students who want to gain experience in Human Resources through applied skills. In this role you will play an integral role in everyday programming by working in partnership with the Talent team to provide exceptional support for our future and current YES Prep employees through all stages of the employment process by creating and streamlining the structures and systems that assist us in recruiting and selecting exceptional talent.

The right person for this internship is eager to learn more about the Talent function by being an active participant in the day-to-day processes and projects!

Up to 2 spots are available and will require the completion of a confidentiality agreement due to data access points required with the role.

THE ROLE

When you join YES Preps Talent team, some of the exciting work will include:

  • Working in YES Preps Applicant Tracking System (ATS), Clear Company

  • Creating handbook resources for the Talent Acquisition Team

  • Attending University Career Fairs and YES Prep Interview Events

  • Cultivating and communicating with candidates

  • Conducting reference checks for selected candidates

  • Shadowing team members as they conduct candidate cultivation calls, review applicants, record data, and more!

To put it simply, the Talent Intern will have a front row seat to talent work in one of Houstons top school districts. An ideal candidate would be a college student seeking real world experience or a professional with an interest in acquiring Talent experience to prepare for a new career.

COMMITMENT

  • 10 hours/week, flexible between M-F, hours to be completed between 8:00am-4:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

MUST HAVES

  • Strong writing skills

  • Ability to learn new systems and programs quickly and efficiently

  • Demonstrated ability to work on a team

BONUS POINTS

  • Eager to dive into the Talent field (this internship will be largely recruitment & selection work as we prepare for 19-20)

  • Leadership experience at the college or professional level

Community Engagement Intern UNICEF USA seeks a Community Engagement intern for its Houston office. The intern work in collaboration with UNICEF USA Community Engagement Associate and Regional Managing Director in the Houston office to help engage local supporters, volunteers, and partners in UNICEF USA's grassroots engagement efforts in two main programs: Trick-or-Trick for UNICEF and UNICEF KidPower. We are currently seeking unpaid interns for our fall cohort that will commence September 17, 2019 and end December 13, 2019. This internship would provide an opportunity to learn about: * managing event planning and execution * maintaining social media and communication outreach * UNICEF programs and community engagement Key Responsibilities/Projects: * Support Regional Managing Director with day-to-day engagement activities through the Houston UNICEF UNITE team — UNICEF USA's grassroots organizing structure, primarily with Trick-or-Treat and UNICEF KidPower * Work on retention of volunteers for UNICEF UNITE Houston region * Support local volunteer activations and key organizational initiatives including, but not limited to Trick-or Treat for UNICEF, UNICEF Kid Power and other initiatives * Assist in managing regional social media pages and communication plans for engaging with volunteers and local community partners * Help with school presentation on UNICEF 101 to inspire children and teachers in school settings to support UNICEF USA campaigns * Assist in tracking volunteer and community engagement activities Qualifications: * Must be a current student enrolled in a College or University degree program * Interest in program management, event planning, nonprofit management or related field preferred * Must have experience with community organizing, volunteer management, and a passion for inspiring others (extracurricular activities, leaders of clubs etc.) * Extensive knowledge of the community for which the candidate is applying a plus * The successful candidate must also have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of children's rights and international issues, as well as a commitment to public service * The ideal candidate will be a resourceful and energetic with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously with attention to detail * Innovation, creativity, and a team player mentality are necessary for success in this role * Demonstrated ability to lead effective presentations and workshops and ease in public speaking for groups large and small * Experience working with students or in educational programming is a plus * Proven ability to work well with a diverse group of people in a team setting; additional language(s) a plus * Strong communication skills, both oral and written; experience working with cross-country teams a plus * Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekend and evening commitments * Must have reliable access to transportation * Fluency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is preferred * Must be a highly motivated team player who enthusiastically embraces the mission of UNICEF and UNICEF USA * Must demonstrate UNICEF USA Core Values: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Teamwork and Service Please include a cover letter that addresses the following questions: * Why do you want to work as a community engagement Intern? * What experience have you had with working with people on a volunteer basis how will you leverage that experience within this role? * What additional skills can you contribute to the role that distinguish you as a candidate?
