Responsibilities

The Business Intelligence Developer (BID) is a member of a team responsible for the technical functions associated with creating and maintaining data visualizations. The incumbents will build charts, create custom calculations, requirement gathering and providing data insights. Incumbents perform data loading, connects to multiple data sources, must be knowledgeable of SQL scripts, and follow defined best practices to produce a data visualization and provide valuable insights.

The BID incumbent writes SQL scripts, understands data relationships, and ensures defined best practices are being utilized. Primary objective is to complete a project and supply the deliverable that meets the requirements provided.

The BID monitors Business Intelligence Server Performance, backgrounder balance, storage capacity planning, workload modeling and prediction, system tracking and software upgrades. Incumbents perform changes to computer databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems and supplying supervision to subordinates. Primary objective is to provide expert knowledge to the visualization process, including the building of consumable data sources for all levels of users

Key responsibilities include:

Using the company's Bl platform and other reporting tools to assist with operational and analytical reporting solutions consistent with the vision and direction of the Director, Analytics Development and the VP, Data Analytics.

Collaborating with end users, Bl developers, data analysts, and business analysts in business units as well as both local and enterprise technology units to meet reporting needs of stakeholders and grow Bl capabilities.

Assist customers with submission request, server navigation and understanding the framework and concepts of Tableau Server.

Assisting in data analysis for data quality issues by identifying data integration errors and working with data integration teams to provide solutions and improve data quality.

Supporting holistic business analysis and reporting of vital KPls.

Identify business opportunities or expand ideas obtained from management to conceptualize and define and model operational problems to assess feasibility and impact.

Develop concepts into business plans utilizing appropriate research techniques, methodologies, and experience and present them to the department with recommendations for implementation.

Perform extensive analysis of the problem, model, and resources available and alternative solutions.

Identify, analyze, interpret, and visualize trends or patterns in complex data sets.

Builds dashboards, based on identified metrics, to support business decisions for both strategic and operational needs.

Working with OLTP/data warehouse modeling and play key role in multiple projects and act as knowledge expert (Technical, Functional).

Able to work independently with business units to gather requirements, perform data discovery, come up with data model, and work with developers to design and implement ETL solutions.

Work with ETL methodologies for supporting data extraction, transformations and loading processing, in a corporate-wide-ETL Solution.

Working with a team in information architecture, data architecture, data modeling, data governance, ETL design, data quality and Bl analytics.

Working with a team designing relational data models, analytical data models and non-relational data models for OLTP and advanced analytic applications.

Performs other special projects and assignments as directed.

Qualifications

BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other relevant field of study. Coursework in Data Analysis, Information Management or Information Technology preferred. Tableau certification a plus.

Database Experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts with the ability to utilize software tools, languages and scripts required for effective data presentation

Information Technology Knowledge of the concepts of database testing processes, design and delivery including sufficient knowledge of PGW database environments and Tableau Servers to be able to effectively diagnose and resolve problems.

Organization/Project Management

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, under pressure and within specified deadlines Customer Service

  • Knowledge and understanding of customer satisfaction basics with the ability to apply concepts in the process of serving the customer.

Over 3 years of experience working in Business Intelligence and reporting solutions (preferably Tableau), experience working with Tableau. Must demonstrate advanced capabilities to create complex visualizations using custom calculations and dashboard actions. Proficient using software such as Oracle and SQL Server and writing SQL scripts.

Familiarity with Tableau Prep, Web Data Connectors and API's. Must read, write, and edit Oracle SQL.

Proficient with Tableau Server (VizQL, Backgrounders, Storage Utilization, HTTP Request Performance and HTTP Stability)

Database Administration

  • Knowledge of the basics networking skills, including indexes, database links, scheme management and table creation.

Information Technology

  • Knowledge of the concepts of database testing processes, design and delivery including sufficient knowledge of PGW Tableau Servers, server analyses visualizations, cataloging and upgrade and maintenance deployments cycles. Leadership

  • Ability to lead, take charge, and offer opinions to provide guidance to lower-level peer group and assist the department head with all matters pertaining Analytics Development and server stability.

Leadership

  • Ability to lead, take charge, and offer opinions to provide guidance to lower-level peer group and assist director in identifying the best people for special assignments and advancement.

Customer Service

  • Knowledge and understanding of customer satisfaction basics with the ability to apply concepts in the process of servicing the customer.

Communications/interpersonal

  • Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively speak across department lines to interpret and convey technical information in clear terms for non-technical staff of all business disciplines.
