What part will you play?

The Systems/Software Dev II is a critical position to support the Media Enablement Services team. High availability and high volume services are the hallmark of this team. Responsibilities include designing and implementing new services, setting up automated testing and continuous integration, supporting and enhancing the suite of existing services. The developer will work on a small team of developers maintaining current services enabling our video players and end user applications for all of our networks. We have a fun and friendly team atmosphere and we will be looking for someone who is both a technical fit and a good team fit. In addition to technical skills, we're looking for the developer being comfortable working in dynamic environment and be able to adapt to changes in requirements

What do we require from you?

  • 3+ years of experience developing production web applications

  • 3+ years of database experience, Relational and Non-Relational combined

  • Experienced in Node.js and/or Python

  • Experienced in Cloud (preferably AWS and/or GCP) environments

  • Experience with cloud services and/or running services in production

  • Agile Development experience

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience

Other preferred skills:

  • Micro services

  • Serverless type architectures

  • Nginx

  • Docker

  • Java

  • Fluency in using Git and GitHub

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, agency/start-up type environment

The Job The Senior Systems/Software Developer is a member of META's Production development team. This team builds and maintains mission-critical video production systems for the Turner television networks. Sample projects include media asset management systems, digital toolkit, digital video archives, and catalog/search systems. The DEV II Developer works as a Scrum team member, applying practical experience in the key disciplines of software engineering (object-oriented design and programming, configuration management, testing, etc.) to deliver incremental but complete pieces of business value to stakeholders. The Day-to-Day * Full stack developer able to develop software in modern enterprise-class languages and development platforms, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript * Embrace emerging UI technologies; integrate with enterprise systems * Develop software confidence and reliability by creating testing artifacts, develop tooling and have communication needed to ensure modified codebases are releasable * Provide third tier support for production issues and working with other peer Turner teams * Agile/Scrum planning and process improvement * Architectural planning and design The Essentials * BS in Computer Science, Software or other Engineering or related field OR equivalent experience required; MS or higher degree preferred * A minimum of 2 years of software development experience, with a strong focus on application development * Minimum 2 years of object-oriented JavaScript with knowledge of how to navigate a document, select DOM elements, create animations, handle events, and develop Ajax applications * Strong working knowledge of JQuery, CSS, and HTML5, and multi-browser capability * Strong working knowledge of XML/XSL/JSON, HTML, and associated modern technologies * At least 1 year experience, building medium to large-scale, \"mission critical\" \"high availability\" production systems that directly support essential business, and technical, or operational functions * Demonstrable excellent design skills and the related strengths in clearly articulating difficult technical concepts and information * Can critically evaluate code as a method of learning, and knows when and how to safely refactor code/artifacts * 1 years experience developing enterprise class systems with NoSQL/document-based data storage * Experience with Agile methodologies (examples include Scrum or Kanban) * Must demonstrate considerable enthusiasm for the practices that allow for continuous deployment and incremental delivery of business value * 1 year of experience with Node.js preferred * Strong experience in non-procedural programming, or applying functional-style concepts professionally considered a plus * 1 year of experience with digital video and audio systems development is a plus * Exposure to SQL and modern ORM tools is a plus * Strong experience in procedural programming like Java or Scala is a plus * Candidates capable of demonstrating experience in one or more of the following areas strongly preferred: release management of enterprise-class system code and artifacts, data and schema modeling, user interface development, human factors, build/deployment management, asynchronous/high-latency programming concepts.
