Overview

Under the guidance of engineering and/or qualified Systems Technician, train to proficiently assemble mechanical and electronic systems used in In-Line Inspection (ILI) equipment by following proper electrical and mechanical principles and practices using electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, software, and appropriate tools

Responsibilities

ILI Tool Component Maintenance (50%)

  • Assists in the development, assembly, and testing of new design ILI tools and equipment,
  • Modifies electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deficiencies by fabricating or modifying parts, utilizing available tools and materials,
  • Utilizes mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics to prepare and assemble electro/mechanical parts,
  • Modifies, maintains/repairs, and upgrades ILI tools and equipment prior to field deployment, in accordance with established assembly and configuration procedures detailed for engineering test and/or customer requirements,
  • Utilizes appropriate forms and software to document new build, maintenance/repair, and upgrade histories of ILI equipment and sub-assemblies;

Continuous Improvement (50%)

  • Acquires fundamentals associated with building, repairing, and maintaining TDW ILI Tool components,
  • Develops and applies the ability to implement approved safety procedures to ensure the personal safety of all parties involved,
  • Develops ability to respond to customer requirements (internal and external) and address problem-solving aspects of all TDW ILI Systems Technician tasks,
  • Develops the required experience, skill, and behavior competencies to become a TDW Systems Technician.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Electronics,
  • Basic understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within Electronic Technology,
  • General understanding of electronic digital and analog circuits and hardware, firmware and software used in data logging applications,
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical devices using schematics and drawings,
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to safely and properly use hand tools and small power tools used in the fabrication of electro-mechanical devices,
  • Demonstrated soldering skills necessary for fabrication of wiring harnesses

Responsibilities * Disassembles and cleans ILI tools in preparation for component maintenance, applying appropriate cleaning procedures based on the specific tool type * Performs maintenance for and rebuilds mechanical assemblies under the guidance of a qualified Technician * Maintains a clean, orderly work area, ensuring TDW safety standards are met * Assists others by preparing, loading, and unloading ILI tools and support equipment for shipping and receiving, as directed by the Equipment Coordinator and/or Service Center Supervisor * Ensures Service Center shop floor is maintained and entire shop area is neat and orderly, in compliance with TDW standards * Sets up and installs furniture and partitions as needed * Performs HSE housekeeping procedures as required * Performs a daily Service Center walkthrough in order to ensure that all housekeeping and HSE Service Center policies and procedures are being appropriately applied * Enhances and implements approved safety procedures to ensure the personal safety of all parties * Effectively responds to internal customer requests and solves various shop-related problems, as they arise * Develops the required experience, skill, and behavior competencies to become a TDW Shop Technician Qualifications * High school diploma * Mechanical or electronics training preferred * Two years of experience disassembling and maintaining mechanical components in a related field preferred * Ability to disassemble and build mechanical components utilizing instruction and mechanical drawings * Ability to convert between decimals and fractions * Familiarity with the safe application of small power and hand tools such as drills, hand and table saws, grinders, etc. * Ability to understand and execute the proper use of lifting equipment, such as c T.D.
