About our group:
The Systems SIE group is working in a global team environment testing and verifying Seagate Systems Firmware for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and Sustaining Programs. You will be part of the top-quality test engineering staff with a team-oriented, Scaled-Agile environment.
About the role - you will:
Provide multi-lab support for a worldwide SIE and Firmware organization (~200 developers and 50 test engineers). The labs are based in Longmont, Colorado and provide US workday coverage for the worldwide Firmware and SIE Organizations.
Bring on-line and maintain, in operational order, storage array systems to support new and sustaining product development (equipment used by test engineers, automation developers and firmware developers)
Troubleshoot, repair and upgrade storage and networking devices (servers, storage array systems, networking switches, etc.)
Work with multiple engineering teams to resolve equipment issues in a timely manner
Utilize JIRA (work-tracking software system) to track work on a Lab Kanban board
Work with engineering team to create appropriate troubleshooting and process documentation
Perform Lab Management responsibilities to maintain and organize a clean and efficient lab
Equipment management to inventory/track/ship equipment
Secure quotes for new Hardware
Order new hardware (Servers, HBA's, cables, etc) via Seagate SAP application.
Participate on a rotating basis as a point of contact for daily system triage to ensure development pipelines continue to operate (system triage and recovery).
Opportunities to also support Seagate HDD labs as needed
About you:
Thrive in a dynamic lab environment where incoming work requests can be fast paced and unpredictable.
Fundamental understanding of computer architecture and components (knowledge of storage systems or hard drive technology a plus).
Ability to diagnose the root cause of failures in a SAN Environment and isolate the components/failure nodes
Understanding of hardware and software interactions; able to apply this understanding to resolve issues
Strong communication skills and willingness to work independently with different engineering teams to help drive lab issues to closure
Your experience includes:
Working in a hardware lab, development lab, or test lab environment (3-5 years of experience working in a lab environment preferred)
Installing, Provisioning and Troubleshooting Linux and Windows Server Operating Systems
Racking, Provisioning and Troubleshooting storage, network, and fabric devices
Familiarity with Storage protocols (provisioning and debug) - iSCSI, Fibre Channel, SAS (NVMe is a Plus)
Knowledge of RAID
You might also have:
Scripting/automation skills (including Python, Perl, BASH, etc.)
Experience with virtualization (VMWare, HyperV, Ovirt)
Experience in a Scaled-Agile/scrum environment
Jenkins Experience is a PLUS.
SSD/HDD Knowledge (SAS/SATA) is a PLUS
