Systems Security Engineer

Key Role:

Review security plans, processes, and strategies to identify areas for improvement or update. Apply expertise in security regulations and directives for organizational and agency level requirements. Leverage expertise in analyzing and implementing security requirements into products and systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with engineering, implementing, and monitoring security measures for the protection of systems, networks, and information

  • Experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining Cybersecurity solutions

  • Experience with protecting system boundaries, keeping computer systems and networks hardened against attacks, and securing sensitive data

  • Experience with security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentications systems, log management, and content filtering

  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity tools, operations, and management

  • Knowledge of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • HS diploma or GED and 11+ years of experience with systems security engineering or BS degree in CS or Electronics Engineering and 3+ years of experience with systems security engineering

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools

  • Experience with Web-related technologies, including Web applications, Web services, service-oriented architectures, and network or Web-related protocols

  • Experience with NIST security controls, the Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) security documentation tool, the Risk Management Framework (RMF), and security compliance

  • Public Trust clearance
