Primary responsibilities include designing, developing, and troubleshooting tools in Python and JavaScript.

Ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, have good verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple tasks at once. Must be able to work independently and maintain professionalism under pressure. Should be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. Must have the ability to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.


  • Strong scripting expertise (Bash, Python, JavaScript)

  • Experience working with NoSQL (MongoDB) databases, and distributed computing technologies

  • Experience with revision control source code repositories (Git).

  • Strong proficiency with JavaScript (ES6). Hands on working experience and knowledge of Node.js, Express.

  • Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds.

  • Development experience designing object oriented JavaScript. Design and development experience building a reusable REST API model/framework to consume data from and/or push data into MongoDB and/or MySQL.

  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as HTML5 and AJAX.

  • Integration of user-facing (React) elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic.

  • Experience working with Heroku Cloud deployment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 1 or more years overall development experience (i.e. academic or professional)

We are seeking a well-rounded product development engineer, who can drive new ideas through design concepts and product development processes. The job includes releasing new products to market and executing new product introduction tasks to completion. This position will work closely with the research team, marketing, and manufacturing at Los Gatos Research facility in San Jose, California. 2019-08-31 Senior professionals ( > 5 years of work experience) Tasks: Working as an individual or as part of a larger team, be responsible for the detailed systems engineering design of laser-based analyzers and instrumentations. Perform a variety of complex engineering assignments utilizing state-of-the art technologies and practical sciences, to innovate and develop new products. Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Conceptualize, create and design prototypes. Work with research/application scientists and other engineers to create test methods, calibration procedures, as well as design and construct prototypes for new products. Perform feasibility analysis on product performance and estimated prime costs, based on the prototypes. Plan resolutions on any technical/process issues in the prototyping phase. Oversee design customizations or OEM sourcing of components that are critical for fulfilling the design goals. Satisfy product requirements from marketing and formulate product specifications (or MRD). Interpret MRD's to satisfy specific design goals for other product development engineers and scientists. Define product qualification plans that include regulatory certifications and safety, such as: CE, UL/CSA, ATEX, IECEx, and FDA 21CFR. Define manufacturing specifications and drive the execution of new product introduction (NPI) tasks. Optimize product configurations (or packaging) for improving manufacturability, performance or marketability of the products, which include hardware, software, and HMI. Document all product qualifications and regulatory certifications for the product release. Drive FMEA and perform product reliability testing that may prevent production fall-off. Generate and approve the release of manufacturing procedures (OMS, flowcharts), BoMs, work instructions, check lists and training plans, which cover all critical test, calibration, and assembly processes. Requirements: Basic Qualifications: Bachelors' degree in engineering and 5 years' combination experience in instrumentation design or electro-mechanical system design * A Master's Degree in required field = Credit given for 2 years of work experience. * A PhD/Doctorate in required field = Credit given for 3 years of work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and launch initiatives related to product changes and/or new product introductions. Proven track records working with cross-functional project teams, which include internal and external resources Design experience in system engineering for analytical instrumentation. Proficient in mounting precision optical-components and designing electro-optic assemblies. Hands-on experience in an experimental laboratory using tunable diode lasers, detectors, analog/digital signal processing, and data acquisitions (DAQ). Familiar with laser-based spectroscopy methods.
