Working as a Systems Project Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the engineering systems with new product offerings based on R&D designs and customer needs for electrical equipment in Electrification Distribution Solutions, US. Reporting to the Engineering Manager II, you will work with Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Product Managers, and Manufacturing, within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts, & resolve issues.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance mechanical configurator code and tables for various product lines

  • Maintain and enhance electrical CAD tools for various product lines

  • Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and SAP team members to troubleshoot and drive timely resolution to system related issues

  • Develop user requirements, specifications, and structure for improving various applications, including, but not limited to Rulestream, HiRes, ePLAN, WinchChill, and/or SAP

  • Design, code, test and implement new programs using various languages such as Visual Basic (VBA and VB.NET) and C#, using structured programming techniques

  • Plan, organize, lead, and execute multiple small and large projects simultaneously while meeting target delivery dates

  • Setup, maintain, and train users on engineering systems

  • Some evenings and weekends may be required as part of production problem resolution, programming and inventory support

  • Promote open communication and maintain effective working relationships

  • Perform other duties within Engineering Systems as directed

Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university with 2 years of equivalent experience.

  • Experience in Rulestream, HiRes, ePLAN, WinchChill, and/or SAP.

  • Working knowledge of SQL and database management.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Visual Basic (VBA and VB.NET), C#, and other software applications.

  • Experience with switchboard/switchgear (SWBD/SWGR) products or motor control centers (MCC).

  • Understanding of mechanical design and assembly.

  • Problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, or as part of a team.

  • Ability to welcome change and work in fast paced environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Project management skills with ability to plan, execute & document programs/projects.

  • Willingness to support off-shift manufacturing teams.

A Project Engineer interacts with manufacturing, R&D, fabrication, and other multidisciplinary functions within the organization in addition to internal and external customers in order to develop the engineering information package to enable the manufacturing plant to provide the ABB Equipment that fulfill customer needs. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, need to provide direction and assistance to factory functions in order to clarify engineering information and support. In this role you will work within defined parameters, regulations and quality standards to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. Your responsibilities * Share appropriate engineering information through open dialogue with other functions in factory and abroad * Execute assigned orders to ensure a high degree of accuracy and on time delivery of engineering drawings and documentation. Manage workload to provide quick turn around on revise and resubmit requests * Create and support technical documentation for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies. standards and procedures * Configure and manage BOMs, technical specifications sheets and engineering drawings. Suggest design optimization concepts to increase order margin * Provide technical support across the whole order lifespan (quoting, engineering/design, manufacturing, post shipment stages) as required * Respond to factory floor requests with a high sense of urgency by meeting with production team on factory floor, driving technical solutions, generating updated drawings and/or bill of materials, etc * Participate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences * Complete on a timely basis all data entry including labor vouchering, required job milestone dates (drawing submittal, BOM release, etc.) * Contribute to lessons learned by capturing mistakes and communicating to responsible parties to drive continuous improvement * Embrace Engineering tools to drive efficiency and accuracy by providing feedback and contributing to testing of new tool features * Collaborate with upper leadership to create engineering documentation, standards and best practices * Interacts with customers, officials, contractors and others.
