Working as a Systems Project Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the engineering systems with new product offerings based on R&D designs and customer needs for electrical equipment in Electrification Distribution Solutions, US. Reporting to the Engineering Manager II, you will work with Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Product Managers, and Manufacturing, within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts, & resolve issues.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance mechanical configurator code and tables for various product lines

  • Maintain and enhance electrical CAD tools for various product lines

  • Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and SAP team members to troubleshoot and drive timely resolution to system related issues

  • Develop user requirements, specifications, and structure for improving various applications, including, but not limited to Rulestream, HiRes, ePLAN, WinchChill, and/or SAP

  • Design, code, test and implement new programs using various languages such as Visual Basic (VBA and VB.NET) and C#, using structured programming techniques

  • Plan, organize, lead, and execute multiple small and large projects simultaneously while meeting target delivery dates

  • Setup, maintain, and train users on engineering systems

  • Some evenings and weekends may be required as part of production problem resolution, programming and inventory support

  • Promote open communication and maintain effective working relationships

  • Perform other duties within Engineering Systems as directed

Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university with 2 years of equivalent experience.

  • Experience in Rulestream, HiRes, ePLAN, WinchChill, and/or SAP.

  • Working knowledge of SQL and database management.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Visual Basic (VBA and VB.NET), C#, and other software applications.

  • Experience with switchboard/switchgear (SWBD/SWGR) products or motor control centers (MCC).

  • Understanding of mechanical design and assembly.

  • Problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, or as part of a team.

  • Ability to welcome change and work in fast paced environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Project management skills with ability to plan, execute & document programs/projects.

  • Willingness to support off-shift manufacturing teams.

Working in the Electrification Distribution Solutions in US, you will lead the execution of projects within the factory by managing all project related activities within the factory from purchase order to shipment and own the commercial and technical communication to the field project teams and customers. Reporting to the Project Operations Manager, you will drive the formal acceptance of the project by the customer, maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction by providing excellent service at all stages of the project. Your responsibilities * Engage with the proposal team to review orders from a technical and commercial standpoint during order entry. Ensure customer requirements are in line with ABB contractual obligations * Ensures that the project follows execution best practices and ABB policies * Act as the primary contact for all order-related matters to the various stakeholders outside of the factory. Manage the entire order-cycle including scheduling, delivery of drawings, execution in the shop, on-time shipment, invoicing coordination, and closing. Provide status/progress updates to all stakeholders with appropriate level of detail * Monitors and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow. Support all aspects of orders to enhance shipped margin opportunities. Under general direction, resolve disputes involving invoicing, back charges, escalation, delays, and warranty charges * Identifies, qualifies, quantifies, and manages risk, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued * Responsible for quotation and booking of change orders. Initiate price change requests, apply mark-ups, prepare quotations, and implement schedule changes, as appropriate * Ensures that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed. Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer * Captures, analyzes, and shares lessons learned throughout the project * Collaborate cross-functionally in a coordinated and professional way to create a team environment that achieves project success Your background * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field with minimum 5+ or more years of experience preferably in Electrification, Manufacturing or Project Management. * Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and knowledge in power systems and protection-related matters. * Must be familiar and have practical experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, SAP and other applicable software. * Experience in dealing with the cultural diversity of a global business environment. * Knowledge of Project Management disciplines and process. * Strong interpersonal skills. * Must be self-motivated with a high level of creativity. * Travel is approximately 5%. * Complex problem-solving skills required. * Strong conflict resolution skills required. * Manufacturing plant environment sometimes requiring extended periods of sitting and extensive use of a computer or phone.
