POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Management Analyst Supervisor, this position actively participates in the Division of Criminal Justice Information Services formulation of overall goals and objectives, policy and operational issues, special projects and budgets. This individual responds to Division or Department needs for information, analysis of current issues, or problem resolution in time frames established. This position works independently and in teams to accomplish objectives, and consults both internally and externally with users of Division services to evaluate their information needs and capabilities. This position must meet and maintain FCIC/NCIC certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Reviewing and providing recommendations for approval of project milestones and deliverables;

  • Identifying risks to project completion by monitoring scope, budget and critical path deviations and providing risk mitigation recommendations;

  • Studying and evaluating new/enhanced software products that improve productivity of CJIS members as well as improving the effectiveness of resource management;

  • Highlighting the input changes and conducting technical reviews to identify the scope of local changes that can improve productivity and data quality;

  • Offering suggestions to help local agencies meet local and state reporting needs;

  • Determining the impact of existing and proposed laws, rules and regulations on existing and developmental programs by analysis and research;

  • Preparing written reports, charts, letters, memoranda, procedural manuals, and other documentation in accordance with Department guidelines, using appropriate and logical formats, tone, grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation, in time frames established;

  • Maintaining the knowledge of policies, theories, techniques, and methodologies by obtaining appropriate training related to information systems, specific work assignments and management skills, as determined with the supervisor; and

  • Making practical suggestions for ensuring that the Division and Department remain in compliance with applicable laws and rules.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system;

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;

  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;

  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;

  • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;

  • Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;

  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;

  • Ability to communicate effectively; and

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.

BASE SALARY:

  • $50,000.00

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
