Come join our team and make a difference huge in the community! We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate team player to help us provide behavioral health services to individuals with mental illness in the criminal justice system.

The Systems Navigator position is one of many positions in the Mental Health and Addictions Services Division (MHASD) supporting the Diversion Court Program. MHASD manages resources for adults, adolescents and children with addictive disorders and mental illness. This position will be located in the downtown Justice Center.

The essential functions of the Diversion Court Program is to provide linkage to services in the community; identify clients that may be eligible for pre-sentencing release or linkage upon release from incarceration. Serve adults in the community justice system that have been identified as ordered to treatment via restoration under 161.365 or 161.370 of the Oregon criminal code; provide, when appropriate, community restoration for those court ordered a 161.370; track and provide linkage services to those individuals court ordered a 161.370 and transported to the Oregon State Hospital.

As a Systems Navigator, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Providing Liaison and Coordination of Services:

  • Screen, provide and directly facilitate referrals for mental health, chemical dependency and social service needs.

  • Meet with clients according to their court level and/ or as needed to engage and promote compliance with court orders or treatment recommendations.

  • Provide engagement, transition, support and community linkage services for defendants selecting to participate in the Forensic Diversion Program or Mental Health Court.

Transitional Services:

  • Providing consultative services to facilitate discharge planning or resolution of charges.

  • Serve as a legal and community resource for the medical/psychiatric system.

  • Serve as internal consultant to other Behavioral Health Programs within Multnomah County by providing professional/community education.

Criminal Justice/Corrections Interactions and Intercepts:

  • Participate in court staffings 2 - 4 times a month.

  • Providing consultative services to facilitate discharge planning or resolution of charges.

  • Provide 1:1 support to assist clients in complying with community treatment recommendations.

  • Provide a strong working relationship and communication with community partners; and be present at and participation in team meetings, community staffing and client meetings with community supports.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

Education/Training: Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social science, behavioral science, or related field; AND

Experience: Three (3) years of case management work experience in a behavioral health setting.

Preferred:

  • Candidate is a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA).

  • Experience working in correctional facility, law enforcement, and/or judicial environment.

Other: May require a valid driver license. Employment is contingent on a passing a background investigation.
