About the Position:

Juniper Networks has an immediate opening for a team-oriented, highly effective, and motivated individual to support a global service provider account. This position will be on the Systems Engineering team supporting pre-sales activities in Routing/Switching infrastructure, Security, Telco Cloud, SDN, NFV, and Cloud. Systems Engineers assist with understanding customers' requirements, the design of Juniper solutions, delivering sales presentations, presenting technical information about products and services, conducting product demonstrations, installing product evaluations, presenting/training at seminars, and assisting with RFP and RFI responses.

Responsibilities:

  • Approval and dispatch of Deal Support and SSE requests

  • Assignment of specialist resources

  • Conflict resolution and field escalations

  • Organizing broader advanced training beyond direct Architecture Team

  • Provide technical expertise for early, pre-GA and NPI platforms and solutions

  • Organize roundtable, user groups and technical forums

  • Technology and solution overviews for field engagement events

Minimum Qualifications:
15+ years industry experience in multiple of the following technical domains

  • Large scale enterprise routing and switching

  • Data Center networking and Telco Cloud

  • Expert level and hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS technologies (RSVP, LDP, L3VPN, L2VPN, and Segment Routing)

  • Expert level and hands-on knowledge of SDN environments including Overlay protocols and technologies such as VXLAN, EVPN, and other tunneling technologies

  • Virtualization, storage, x86 compute, orchestration, and other non-networking data center technologies

  • Experience working in a pre-sales role selling networking equipment OR end-user experience in design / architecture / vendor selection

  • Ability to communicate, both oral and written, on complex technical and sales issues to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical decision-makers

  • Ability to make and communicate relevant connections between proposed technical solutions and customers' business requirements

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of how to build successful relationships between an equipment manufacturer and a channel partner or reseller

In-depth understanding of product features, use cases, positioning, and configuration in many of the following products or product categories:

  • Juniper MX Series routers, Cisco ASR9000, CRS

  • Juniper EX or QFX switches, Cisco Nexus switches, or Arista switches

  • Amazon Web Services, connectivity and analytical tools.

  • Open Networking switch hardware (white box) and related software (Cumulus, BigSwitch, Pica8)

  • OpenStack (RedHat, Mirantis, or Ubuntu) or VMware vSphere

  • Linux operating system knowledge including KVM

  • NFV concepts

  • Containers and container-related technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes

  • SDN overlay technologies including Contrail Networking, Nuage, or NSX

  • Knowledge of merchant silicon technologies (Trident, Tomahawk, Jericho, etc.)

  • JNCIE, CCIE, RHCE, or other expert-level industry certification is desired

  • Formal or informal technical sales leadership or mentoring is desired

Other Information:

Travel requirements for the position - 50%. This position will travel based on customer demand for sales activities

This position reports directly to the Director of Systems Engineering, Americas Channels and Service Provider Organization. The role will provide consistent team and business leadership with focus on sales growth (SA), technical and operational excellence and SE development for Juniper's Americas Architecture Specialists Team. The position is responsible for daily workflow, tactical and strategic leadership for the Americas Architecture SE Specialists Team. Accountabilities focus on architectural and multi-faceted consultative solution support to Juniper Account teams, prioritization of outcome-based technical engagements, team development and alignment of organizational capabilities in support of early market and NPI architectures, solutions, platforms and products primarily within the Enterprise segments. Area of focus also includes development of best practices, technology positioning, field/market advocacy and support and adoption of SE transformation initiatives as the market continues to evolve toward cloud, microservice applications and software-oriented networking. The SED will embrace partnership and leverage key relationships with Juniper Corporate, field SE and sales management leading to a more integrated go-to-market model (GTM). The successful candidate will be an accomplished self-starter with leadership experience; adept at business diplomacy and conflict resolution; aware of market trends and transitions; understand data network systems architecture and associated business value; have experience with collaborative/overlay business motions; have proven ability to work in a matrix environment and possess excellent communication, presentation and organization skills. Balanced professional, technical and business acumen is fundamental. Regional and Corporate travel (30% and variable) Primary Responsibilities * Sales team collaboration, strategy and execution plans contributing to acceleration and achievement of Americas revenue targets * Management and reporting of field Deal Support Requests [DSR] * SE specialist assignment, prioritization, engagement and boundaries * Define and adopt successful outcome requirements for DSR engagements * Oversight for DSR qualification, expectations and task ownership * Structured technical enablement initiatives and advanced training including technical overviews, SE demonstrations, events, webinars, and NPI workshops * Influence and mentoring of GTSE community through sharing of technical experiences * Alignment of team capabilities to focus areas and company imperatives * SE staffing, goals, development and work assignments * Business operations and administrative functions * Model the 'Juniper Way' and company values Qualifications * 10+ years industry experience in technology/technical leadership roles with strong background in IP; data network infrastructure; architecture; concepts and associated * technologies * Thorough understanding of pre-sales engineering and sales stage process including PoCs, validation and solution dependencies ideally within Enterprise market segments * Familiarity with current networking and business model trends, market dynamics and technological adjacencies (i.e. virtualization, software/OS, cloud services) * Ability to assess, prioritize, assign and manage technical work streams to completion * Demonstrated strong written, oral and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical * decision-makers * Strong interpersonal, organizational and collaborative work skills * Minimum BS/BSE/EE degree in engineering / computer science or equivalent work experience in computing, software or network communications Juniper Networks Westford MA
