The Opportunity
The Systems Engineer V will work from our Alameda, CA headquarters. This person will lead a cross functional team in the development of new products. Key responsibilities for this individual will include: Finds solutions to complex product development problems; Develops system level design documentation and requirements specification, working with marketing, engineering and other stakeholders; Provides specialized functions such as algorithm development, user interface development, chemical process development or data analysis methodology; Develops and follows specialized procedures in executing experiments, evaluation and documentation of results; and Develops working relationships with cross functional groups.
What You'll Work On
Lead/perform product definition, system architecture, requirements writing, requirements management, requirements analysis, risk analysis, hazard analysis, product test and evaluation, System V&V, and/or design control documentation.
Develop design processes.
Lead, design and conduct system level characterization/verification of complex systems.
Collect, organize, analyze, and document test results.
Integrate analytical and performance related elements with software, hardware, and electronics system components.
Communicate effectively and participate on cross functional development teams with good negotiating skills to direct multi-disciplinary teams toward solutions.
Responsible for utilizing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's (BS) degree and minimum 8 years of relevant experience in engineering (or MS degree with minimum 6 years experience, or PhD preferred with minimum 4 years of experience).
Advanced experience in designing and developing complex programmable electro-mechanical systems with demonstrated ability to design and develop at the component-level.
Experience working with products with wireless communication, such as Bluetooth Low Energy.
Experience with mobile software or application development, including software architecture knowledge.
Experience with medical device systems development per FDA and EU design control regulations.
Advanced level of experience with application of medical device risk management per ISO 14971.
Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
Advanced level ability to conduct thorough data analytics & implement data-driven solutions.
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
Ability to provide guidance to junior team members.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge in modern programming languages such as C/C++/C#, Python, Native or Swift.
Advanced level of understanding of agile development and test methodologies.
Advanced level of knowledge with continuous integration & continuous development (CI/CD).
Advanced level understanding of design patterns.
Advanced level of experience with medical device software development per IEC 62304.

The base pay for this position is $109,300.00 - $218,500.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
