What You'll Do

You will partner with our Account Executives in a pre-sales technical role, showcasing Cisco product solutions-setting up demonstrations and explaining features and benefits to customers-and designing and configuring products to meet specific customer needs.

  • You will gain access to the palette of Cisco technologies and applications in a variety of vertical markets.

  • You will collaborate with the Account Manager to recommend and develop customer solution offerings.

  • You will provide an architectural perspective across the Cisco product portfolio and can use your technical specialization for specific opportunities.

  • You will act in an increasingly consultative fashion and looked to as a guide, or trusted technical adviser, in your field by the account team and customers.

  • You will keep up-to-date on relevant competitors solutions, products and services.

  • You will assist with the development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities.

  • You will actively participate as a specialist on assigned Virtual Team and provide consultative support in their area of specialization to other Systems Engineers.

  • You have a knowledge of baseline SE skills and in-depth knowledge in at least one specialization in either Data Center, Collaboration, Security or Route/Switch/Wireless.

  • You have knowledge of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria and applications.

  • You have the understanding and conversant about company, competitors, technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

  • You show technical knowledge and consultative skills and ability to work effectively and contribute to the extended team.

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills.

  • Confirmed technical knowledge and consultative skills.

  • 4+ years-related experience preferred (less will be considered). Cisco product experience or relevant experience in key competitor offerings in technology area of emphasis required. Pre-Sales experience required.

  • Typically requires BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent.

Job Description We are seeking a strong Systems Engineer (SE) to perform pre-sales activities for the Federal team. The ideal candidate will have great presentation skills, knowledge of the storage industry. This position provides Technical support to Sales Reps. The candidate will design solutions and proposals to meet customer-defined specifications, help customers define solution specifications, provide POC and Benchmark support. The candidate will provide written reports to management on status and issues within the Federal sector. The role includes providing installation and training to customers on DDN solutions when required. The candidate should have the ability to travel approximately 20-30%. Additional responsibilities include mentoring junior SEs, designing services and product offerings to support the building DDN's Services. This hire performs Pre-Sales work supporting team as well as Professional Service work. Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: * Pre-sales activity supporting high performance and capacity storage sales in the government sector. * Assist in closing new business opportunities by gaining a thorough technical and business understanding of clients' needs and helping sales qualify, identify, and close new opportunities. * Understand the sales process and how to utilize company resources to close accounts. * Participate in customer-focused seminars, tradeshows, events, and training. * Provide RFP responses, technical drawings, presentations, and recommendations. * Acquire and maintain a thorough technical and procedural understanding of DDN Sales cycles, products/services and a thorough technical understanding of like industries. * Develop a substantial knowledge of the company's SAN appliances product line. * Develop innovative solutions to customers' business needs. Installation status reports. * Assist DataDirect sales representatives in qualifying potential customer deals. * Create of Bill of Materials (BOMS) of proposed customer solutions' for submission to Inside Sales for quoting. * Weekly status report of activities to manager. * Ability to manage customer relationship post-sale, including strategy to close repeat business. * Build and implement professional services solutions around DDN product offerings. * Expand professional services offerings outside of DDN product offerings, helping to develop products, process and procedures to facilitate engagements. * Create blue print solutions for implementation within the DDN sales offerings. Mentoring of junior SE's. Qualifications for this role are: * Great people skills and be a great presenter. * Knowledge of the storage industry and solutions is a must. * 3-5 Years' experience in Operating systems debugging Linux and Windows Environments. * Red Hat, SUSE, Windows XP, Server, 2000, 2003 and 2008. Scripting (Shell), C++, Java, Perl. * Strong knowledge in file system deployment and concepts: XFS, ZFS, EXT3/4. * Knowledge of clustering packages, Lustre, SNFS, GPFS, Red Hat Clustering. * Knowledge of block storage SAN and RAID systems. BS or work equivalent in Computer Information Systems. * Knowledge of networking concepts is required; NAS protocol levels (CIFS, NFS, SMB, etc...) and ability to integrate and trouble shoot at all layers of OSI model. Specifically the Network and Data link layers as well as Session and Application. * Ability to Multitask and develop innovative solutions for client needs. * Requires the ability to listen, understand and articulate the customer's needs and how to solve it. * Dynamic team leader. * The ability to form and lead teams is a requirement. * Relationship building and people skills are very important. * Active Security clearance, or ability to obtain one highly desireable.
