Position Summary

The Systems Engineer is a technical role that supports R&D New Product Development initiatives. This position reports to an R&D Manager and is a responsible for a broad array of activities including subsystem design and system verification, working within the project constraints of schedule, cost, performance, quality and reliability objectives.

Duties

  • Executes Systems Engineering verification activities within various engineering disciplines, including initiation, testing requirements definition, coordination, and review of the designs executed.

  • Supports the preparation of documentation, including configuration documentation, protocols, reports, and other DHF and product documentation.

  • Supports defect management activities.

  • Supports or executes technical realization of designs including requirements management, technical documentation, and 2D and 3D design

  • Release engineering documents and drawings in a PLM System; implement ECN's as related to design or manufacturing documentation

  • Supports system integration, including cross functional collaboration, analysis, and technical problem solving

  • Supports or executes cross-discipline technical feasibility and tradeoff studies, including R&D prototype builds and testing.

  • Supports system-level design & reviews

  • Interacts with vendors, suppliers and consultants regularly to follow up on subassemblies and procure R&D samples, while confirming alignment with requirements and specifications.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physics

  • Experience in multi-discipline productdevelopment environment.

  • Minimum three years of engineering experience.

  • Desired: Exposure to other engineering disciplines, including Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or physics.

  • Systems thinking acuity.

  • Ability to apply technical skills in multiple engineering disciplines

  • Demonstrated ability in technical analysis including evaluation of multiple candidate solutions and significant evaluation of intangibles.

  • Ability to propose methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to realize product functionality

  • Exposure to developing and executing verification and validation test plans.

  • Excellent communication, influencing and conflict resolution skills.

  • Self-motivated and great with multitasking

  • Excellent technical writing, and presentation skills; English fluency.

  • Systems modeling training experience (e.g. MATLAB, simulink, Labview).

  • Preferred: Lean product design training preferred.

  • 10% Domestic Travel required

Position Summary The primary focus for theAssociate Product Manager positionis to achieve and preferably exceed North American revenue and profitability objectives for the assigned product or category. The position is a mixture of downstream and upstream marketing with balanced focus on (1) new product development and (2) initiatives centered on marketing & sales strategies and execution. Working closely with the direct manager, success in this role will be achieved through effective implementation in the following areas: * Marketing Strategy Development, Execution & Program Management in support of the Business Unit Objectives. * Collaboration & Team Building * Procedural & Product Planning * Market Research & New Product Development Duties Marketing Strategy Development, Execution & Program Management * Work closely with the commercial team and direct manager to increase product penetration through the development of tools and programs that provide a seamless approach to selling value * With the support of direct manager, collaboratively identify issues, opportunities and associated strategies within assigned procedural / product areas through frequent conversations and interactions with Customers, sales leadership and account managers. * Support and participate in sales meetings, national & regional conferences and events * Communicate with field representatives to assure awareness of product changes, pricing changes, new sales tools, corrective measures, etc. * Exhibit a strong sense of urgency for executing strategic plans and achieving product revenue goals * Commit to field travel (approximately 15% -25% travel predominantly NA travel, some International travel may be required. Product or Category Leadership & Team Building * With the assistance of direct manager, create and support short and long term product /procedural space planning process within assigned areas to achieve corporate goals * Begin establishing the ability to win mind share with internal cross functional team members through a collaborative approach to identifying solutions based on data, building excitement and consensus specific to assigned product/procedural area to drive projects forward Procedural & Product Planning * With guidance and support from direct manager, collaborate with NA sales and marketing leadership on the development/execution of Plans of Action (POAs) and new product launches including: * forecasting and financial planning/business case development * market potential/opportunity and target share by product line * needs based Customer segmentation * value proposition creation * competitive analysis * reimbursement & GPO / IDN trends * strategies to support sales execution * product life cycle planning * product training * Begin the process of identifying Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and Key Accounts (KAs) in the OR /medical community * Begin establishing a general understanding of the competitive product marketplace * Keep informed on current market trends and sales analysis to sharpen ability to plan, review, adjust and approve product/procedural plans, including the identification of future product development opportunities * Working closely with direct manager, understand approach to pricing strategy stewardship within assigned product categories Market Research & New Product Development * Begin providing leadership in all phases of the Stage Gate process making sure to leverage direct manager * Provide commercial and clinical Voice of Customer supporting recommendations for NPD based on qualitative and quantitative research. * With guidance from direct manager, support cross-functional new product development teams with market objectives when completing documentation,feasibility testing, and risk analysis for new products and line extensions * Using Clinical support and direct manager as mentors, participate in product testing with Customers to determine if product meets market needs * Participate in planning and preparation for new product launches including forecasting, sales collateral, equipment evaluation requirements, pricing guidelines, and product training. * Review industry publications and practices to ensure products meet Customer needs and industry guidelines Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills; * BA or BS degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field * 3+ years of relevant business experience * 0-2+ years of experience in Marketing (medical device product marketing experience preferred) * Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills * Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications #LI-KK1 #monsterSTE * MSJA STERIS is a $2B+, publicly traded (NYSE: STE) organization with approximately 12,000 associates worldwide and operates in more than 100 countries.
