Systems Engineer (Subject Matter Expert)

L3 Adaptive Methods is seeking a Systems Engineer/Subject Matter Expert (SME) who desires to be part of a high-paced small reults-oriented team.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Collaborate as part of a team in addition to being a technical expert.

  • Work closely with Fleet users to gather feedback to research and develop User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) designs software that supports a variety of U.S. Naval shore sites and platforms, including P-8s, UUVs, Aircraft Carriers, Cruisers, and Destroyers.

  • Develop test cases and work with Testers and other SMEs to develop User stories that provide operational scenarios to test software.

  • Utilize your broad depth of knowledge to influence and support all aspects of the program unlike any discipline, knowing how the system is built and expected to perform in an operational environment.




  • Bachelor's degree or 16 years of Navy experience or equivalent.

  • Expert understanding of U.S. Navy ASW, USW, MIW, IW, and/or C2 mission areas, associated platform capabilities and CONOPS, specifically as a part of the MPRA, Submarine or UUV community.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and able to mentor and motivate others.

  • Must have sound troubleshooting, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Ability to exercise problem resolution, sound judgment, negotiating, and decision-making skills.

  • Able to adapt in a quick-paced and distributed work environment.

  • Ability to successfully gather user requirements and decompose into required capabilities and features.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must have a strong sense of follow-through.

  • Willing to try new things, including field testing.

  • Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.

  • Travel is an integral part of this position, which can be as high as 20% as demanded by the needs of our customers and our business.


  • Quality assurance (software testing) or maintenance background a plus.

  • Understanding of UX/UI design, standards, and processes with experience generating design documentation.

  • UX/UI development experience with Naval Warfare Systems.

  • Understanding of user scenarios, usability, and workflow design.

  • Familiarity with acquisition processes.

Supports Parsons enterprise-wide Engineering Systems by providing expertise in a specific ES application or related area (E.g., licensing and compliance; application publishing and certification). Prepares and publishes ES-related applications for timely delivery to the enterprise and BU. Maintains publishing schedules and other documentation to track progress within budget constraints. Provides technical guidance to other ES support staff members. Responsibilities: * Maintains highly specialized knowledge of engineering and design applications, often related to a specific engineering discipline (E.g., CAD, CIE and GIS, design collaboration systems [ProjectWise™]; Building Information Modeling [BIM]; automation; engineering tools, processes and methodologies). * Provides support in the delivery, administration, customization and maintenance of a new engineering or design application in the area where they have specialized knowledge * Provides support in upgrading, modifying or enhancing an existing engineering or design application in the assigned area of expertise. * Guarantees the operability and interoperability of ES systems by providing technical oversight of core systems and servers that align with specific enterprise ES products, including licensing management systems, collaboration systems, and other core ES delivery systems. * Supports Parsons technical ES requirements for large systems and major subsystems by preparing and delivering engineering and design applications that meet those delivery requirements. * May provide specialized discipline-specific configuration and commissioning services ranging from BIM to Plant Design Systems. * Provides technical oversight for specific projects and tasks in specialized areas of engineering or design applications. * May work with clients, subcontractors and business partners to develop, maintain and troubleshoot shared ES systems. * Identifies issues, questions and problems with ES related systems and works with individual team members and the client to resolve those issues successfully. * May provide technical direction to less-experienced ES and IT staff members. Qualifications: * U.S. citizenship is required. * Bachelors degree in Computer Science, information systems, engineering or related technical discipline, with experience in both engineering and IT, and typically 6+ years of progressive experience developing technical architecture and performing project management to meet specific ES-related business requirements, using collaborative engineering or application systems. * Applications Packaging experience using tools such as Installshield, Adminstudio, SCCM, Numecent Cloudpaging, App-V, Citrix preferred.
