Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control business is expanding at our campus at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), New Mexico. We are seeking a qualified Senior Systems Engineer to join our team.

Primary responsibility supporting the Tactical Strike Missiles test activities at the WSMR facility. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective part of a diverse team that includes technicians, quality assurance inspectors and engineers, and lead tasks as Test Conductor operating to written documentation.

  • Ability to operate and maintain mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and associated components and systems in support of weapon system testing.

  • Work according to Technical Manuals, blueprints, electrical schematics, and released engineering procedures.

  • Be familiar with assembly and test procedures related to

electrical and mechanical systems and associated test and

ground support equipment required for system buildup and test.

  • Be able to achieve and maintain certification in technical skills as required by mechanical and /or electrical product or process specifications (i.e. ordnance certification, electrical assembly, application of sealants, etc.).

  • Follow configuration control procedures in effect on assigned project effort.

  • Understand, observe and enforce compliance with all

environmental control procedures for the handling and

disposition of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.

  • May be required on occasion to support short-term travel to testing locations within the confines of WSMR, within the continental United States, or possibly overseas in support of job functions and assigned duties.

The locale: WSMR is located in southern New Mexico, and has an area of almost 3,200 square miles, and is near Alamogordo, NM, Las Cruces, NM, and El Paso, TX. The region is high desert with nearby mountain ranges and several manmade lakes that offer superb outdoor recreational activities. The region offers a great cost of living combined with a robust economy and pleasant climate. This southern New Mexico / west Texas region is a great place to live and to raise a family, and is home to New Mexico State University and the University of Texas El Paso.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined education.

Demonstrated competency in leading test conduct in an ordnance environment.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Demonstrated skills and aptitude in assembly and test procedure execution.

Willingness to travel.

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a PC and applications Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

Ability to achieve and maintain certification in technical skills as required by the role.

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance and must be able to obtain an interim secret clearance prior to start.

Primary responsibility supporting the Air & Missile Defense test activities at the WSMR facility. This includes but is not limited to: Primary employee responsibility is the configuration, operations and maintenance of classified data and telemetry acquisition systems for the Air and Missile Defense team at the White Sands Missile Range. This job requires performance duties within multiple company and US Government owned facilities, including deployed trailers and vans, and often during odd hours and in harsh environmental conditions. Employee is expected to work effectively as part of a diverse team of technicians, quality assurance and field service engineers; and to regularly interface with program management and USG representatives. Position requires regular travel primarily within the confines of White Sands Missile Range, with infrequent other CONUS and OCONUS travel. The employee must understand and follow detailed plans and procedures, while operating within the proximity of live ordnance testing and integration activities. Position requires some physical labor to deploy and recover field equipment, and often requires use of standard test & troubleshooting equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and similar electronic tools; and various technical hand tools such as wire strippers, cable connector & repair tools, etc. Employee will be required to drive forklifts and heavy-duty company pickup trucks, and to attach, tow and park trailers or generators, often in remote and off-road locations. Must be able to pass training requirements for these vehicles, including FMCSA training. Employee must adhere to physical and information security standards and procedures, Environmental Health and Safety standards and procedures, and including compliance with environmental control procedures for the handling and disposition of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
