Description:This is an opportunity to work on the Labs and Tech Services (L&TS) System Engineering team. L&TS a highly innovative team responsible for developing, testing and maintaining aircraft simulation systems and subsystems utilized for aircraft capability integration and weapons systems development from concept design through production and delivery. Within L&TS resides an extensive collection of systems integration and test capabilities, including low-cost rapid prototyping concept development systems, full-dome handling qualities simulations, high-fidelity multi-ship, real-time, man-in-the-loop simulation system, and hardware-in-the-loop mission systems and vehicle systems integration venues.
This position is for a Lead System Engineer to work on the F-35 ADP (Advanced Development Program) Project. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the ADP system engineering team's development activities that are necessary to successfully complete milestones leading up to the full verification, validation and delivery of the ADP product capabilities.
The system engineering activities include providing technical oversight for: Laboratory system requirements derivation, requirements management, requirements change management, system design development, system integration planning, system requirements verification, system performance validation, and onsite installation, setup and acceptance testing of the ADP system.
This position will require close coordination with ADP Project Leadership plus proactive engagement with L&TS simulation software, subsystem procurement, hardware development teams, and other teams both inside and outside LM Aeronautics, to ensure an effective system engineering communication interface is established and maintained.
This position will provide technical support and advice to the laboratory development staff to support integration, operation, and upgrades to the ADP system.
This position may require unique program security clearances that will be initiated upon selection and acceptance in filling this position. Final approval of these security clearances is dependent upon the Department of Defense (DoD) and could take an extensive amount of time to be granted. During this waiting period, the work assignments directly related to this position will be limited. Therefore, auxiliary organization work assignments will be provided.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. This position requires a Secret security clearance to start, with a current background investigation.
Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Bachelor's degree required
Experience in using the DOORS requirements management tool.
Experience in development of avionics hardware in-the-loop simulation systems.
Experience with functional and interface in one or more of the following: avionics sensors, such as radar, electronic warfare, CNI, or IR subsystems.
Experience in leading the implementation of System Engineering practices in performing one or more of the following system requirements development: system design development, system integration, or verification on complex aircraft simulation systems.
Degrees preferred: Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics
Familiarity with F-35 Mission Systems Architecture and subsystems.
Experience in development of System Requirements and Allocation to subsystems.
Experience in development of detail System Design
Working knowledge regarding military threat analysis.
Experience in development and execution of System Test Procedures
Experience in delivering products to external customers
Demonstrated experience in detail planning (estimating, task scheduling using MS Project)
Working knowledge of EVMS and implications to project decision making.
