Qorvo is looking for a Senior Sustaining Engineer responsible for technical product leadership for production released products for the High-Power RF Systems product line. The position involves working with Program Management, Design Engineering, and our customer to insure the products Qorvo delivers are solid, and that meet or exceed all contractual requirements.
Specific Job Duties
Work with program management, planning, and manufacturing to understand the forecast for production assembly and test schedules, and shipment dates.
Supports all technical issues on the factory floor for production products.
Acts as the primary focal point for technical evaluation of all requested changes for production products.
Once changes are approved acts as the primary driver for implementation, working with quality, design engineering, CAD, planning, manufacturing, test, program management, and the customer if necessary to ensure the implementation of the change is completed. Including updates to product documentation, test plans, manufacturing documentation, and disposition of existing inventory are all completed in a timely manner.
Reliability and Maintainability Duties
Assesses system, sub-system and component designs used or proposed for use with respect to Reliability and Maintainability requirements. Reviews engineering specifications and drawings during development and proposes design refinements to improve ratio of operational time to maintenance time. Performs calculations associated with system availability, reliability, maintainability, supportability and producability.
Analyzes reliability and functional block diagrams that reflect the proposed design. Proactively works with design engineering to ensure Reliability and Maintainability issues are raised and performs supportability trade off analysis addressed during the design phase.
Develops reliability models, performs reliability and maintainability analysis and predictions, and performs Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Failure Tree analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Analysis to support requirements analysis and design influence.
Coordinates with Engineers and subcontract team that will provide maintenance task analysis, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA). Performs supportability analysis and works closely with US Government and internal engineering personnel to ensure supportability planning is complete within program time constraints.
Observes maintainability tests to verify operations are conducted according to standards.
Supports key customer technical meetings and authors presentations and proposals as required. Develops strong technical working relationships with key technical contacts and influencers at the customer.
Leads the effort to generate all required documentation to fulfill contractual requirements. This could include working with internal and external resources assigned by Program management.
In this position you will report directly to the Director of Engineering of High Power RF Systems.
BS degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
At least five (5) years engineering experience required, some experience in developing qualitative and quantitative system / subsystem / equipment reliability and maintainability criteria tailored to the proposed application, for technical / programming / contractual documents.
Familiar with the RF components commonly used (RF amplifiers, mixers, attenuators, filters, VCOs, Synthesizers).
Must have prior experience and knowledge of government RF systems, and the government processes associated with military standard requirements. Knowledgeable in Department of Defense LRU design and familiar with complex RF subsystems used in Radar, EW, and communication applications.
Familiar with MIL-HDBK-472 Maintainability Prediction methods to calculate MTTR, Direct Maintenance Costs and other key output parameters.
Practical experience is HALT, HASS, and other Reliability Testing approaches.
Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent written communications skills.
Ability to travel domestically up to 25%.
Position requires DoD clearance. Candidates must be US citizens.
Additional Technical expertise desired:
Understanding of III-V semiconductor devices.
Background in RF/Microwave power amplifier design
Experience with millimeter wave radios
Familiar with AC/DC and DC/DC Power supply subsystems
