Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary:

As the organizational expert in the systems engineering field, develops, operates and maintains a variety of highly complex technology systems. Participates in the integration of processes and methodologies to ensure the performance of the total system.

Job Duties:

  • Work directly with senior technical personnel, program managers, and external organizations in the planning, oversight, execution, and evaluation of multiple complex technical solutions related to a program's system and technical product development.

  • Advise program managers on challenging technical issues, coordinates the use of senior technical resources across the organization on multi-disciplinary problems, and provides technical guidance and leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and other technical staff.

  • Perform complex and advanced engineering work in design, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of system development, engineering analysis and research for one or more programs.

  • Serve as program technical team lead. Prioritizes technical issues, plans technical approach, and works with program managers to develop schedules and staffing plans to support program delivery milestones.

  • Develop and provide final technical review of major technical reports, status reports, letters, technical memoranda, contract reports and formal briefings.

  • Conduct independent technical investigations and provides impact assessments and design recommendations to clients.

  • Provides assurance that technical projects are performed in a technically proficient manner and ensures conclusions and recommendations are supported by the analyses presented.

  • Comply with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties.

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Expert knowledge of advanced engineering principles, methods, and techniques in more than one area of expertise.

  • Expert knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.

  • Excellent customer and organizational level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline plus 10-12 years relevant work experience, with 3 years (recent) of space operations domain expertise.

  • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 15 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Requirements:

  • Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility on day 1 of employment.

  • Expert knowledge of advanced engineering principles, methods, and techniques in more than one area of expertise.

  • Expert knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.

  • Excellent customer and organizational level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.Responsibilities for this Pipeline requisition are: Essential Functions: * Provide mission operations support to NGIS Satellite programs. * Support system development activities such as requirements management, architecture development, integration and test and formal program milestones. * Work with systems engineers to develop operational documentation for use during on-orbit checkout and commissioning of satellites. * Conduct testing using simulators and resolve discrepancies. * Work with a small team of engineers in accomplishing Mission Operations Development tasks. * Develop and test command procedures, telemetry pages, and other products derived from vendor provided documentation * Develop test procedures and test execution for system level, end-to-end tests with the spacecraft. * Support mission readiness activities including mission rehearsals, mission timeline development, and post launch test development. * Support launch, including shift work, for instrument and spacecraft LEO&A activities. * Monitor vehicle state of health across all subsystems. * Perform short and long-term telemetry trending. * Track space vehicle configuration, to include both hardware, software, and configurable item parameters. * Support anomaly resolution efforts. * Make modifications to existing operations procedures to incorporate lessons learned from in-flight performance. Develop new procedures as required. * May require shift work and travel up to 20% of the time for simulation and launch support ABQ-IS Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in engineering related discipline and 5 years of related experience; 3 Years with Masters * Experience with multiple S/C Subsystems (ADCS, CDH, COMM, EPDS, Thermal, FSW) * Experience with launch campaigns and spacecraft operations * Support all readiness activities to include; Mission Readiness Tests (MRTs), Mission Rehearsals (MRs), Day In The Life (DITL) and daily operations testing. * 2 years system design experience including the development of system design documents * 2 years' Experience writing technical documents for external customers * Current Active Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications: * MS degree * 5 years System Design Experience including the development of system design documents * Experience working on government systems and/or government process environment * Experience working on satellite telecommunications systems. * Experience with a requirements management tool (e.g. DOORS) * Experience with a configuration management tool (e.g. Clearcase) * Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including ability to make persuasive presentations to external customers Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
