Oculus is seeking talented Systems Engineers who are passionate about systems infrastructure engineering. As a Systems Engineer, you own and support many of Oculus' core infrastructure systems and have a direct impact on systems design, enhancements, and support practices. Engineers with expertise in storage, virtualization, messaging, open source technologies, data networking, and back office foundational infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, scale, and secure Oculus corporate infrastructure, focusing on both Windows and Linux environments

Combine open-source and commercial technologies to build services that will have an impact on the business

Leverage the scale and complexity of the larger facebook.com infrastructure to solve problems for all of Oculus

Deploy, configure, and maintain servers and other critical infrastructure to support all Oculus teams

Perform server performance tuning and capacity planning alongside Facebook monitoring and platform teams

Collaborate with project managers and third party/in-house developers on unique technical projects

Produce systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented, and train others to take on operations

Maintain technical documentation library and internal wikis

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent work experience)
    2+ years experience working in a large-scale server administration or data center support role
    2+ years System Engineering experience with Windows Server (2008R2/2012) or Linux Server (CentOS, Ubuntu) and associated technology support

Knowledge of different protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, IPTables, Active Directory, WSUS, WDS, etc.)

Knowledge of network protocols and network design principles

Knowledge with open source monitoring and methodologies (Zabbix, OpenNMS, Nagios)

Knowledge of data center technologies (SAN/CDN)

Work with IT and business teams to identify technology solutions to achieve business results. Maintain awareness of trends and issues in the area of cloud hosting; evaluate new technology opportunities and provide analysis of their potential impact to business. Technical and engineering skills in Enterprise Active Directory messaging including Exchange, Gsuite, O365(e.g., release updates, security patches, build, deployment tools and processes). Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Exchange, O365, Gmail, cloud hosting solutions required. Experience in managing Active Directory across multiple data centers preferred. Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2008, DFS and File Share tenhniques required. 2008 Clustering a plus. Experience managing SaaS vendor single sign on and related cloud based services Knowledge of main ITIL concepts preferred.
