Oculus is seeking talented Systems Engineers who are passionate about systems infrastructure engineering. As a Systems Engineer, you own and support many of Oculus' core infrastructure systems and have a direct impact on systems design, enhancements, and support practices. Our talented employees are dedicated to the development of cutting-edge technology; therefore, our ideal candidates will have laser focus and strong attention to detail to execute systems engineering needs with great precision. Engineers with expertise in storage, virtualization, messaging, open source technologies, data networking, and back office foundational infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, scale, and secure Oculus corporate infrastructure, focusing on both Windows and Linux environments

Combine open-source and commercial technologies to build services that will have an impact on the business

Leverage the scale and complexity of the larger facebook.com infrastructure to solve problems for all of Oculus

Deploy, configure, and maintain servers and other critical infrastructure to support all Oculus teams

Perform server performance tuning and capacity planning alongside Facebook monitoring and platform teams

Collaborate with project managers and third party/in-house developers on unique technical projects

Produce systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented, and train others to take on operations

Maintain technical documentation library and internal wikis

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent work experience)
    2+ years experience working in a large-scale server administration or data center support role
    2+ years System Engineering experience with Windows Server (2008R2/2012) or Linux Server (CentOS, Ubuntu) and associated technology support

Knowledge of different protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, IPTables, Active Directory, WSUS, WDS, etc.)

Knowledge of network protocols and network design principles

Knowledge with open source monitoring and methodologies (Zabbix, OpenNMS, Nagios)

Knowledge of data center technologies (SAN/CDN)

We are currently seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer for the Human Understanding Pittsburgh team. Human Understanding is tasked with building next generation technology and experiences centered around Virtual Humans, self-presence and social presence achieved through tracking, capturing & reconstruction of faces, eyes, hands and body. Our team is addressing a variety of technical challenges in the areas of real-time 3D hand, face, eye and body tracking, leveraging deep convolutional and recurrent neural networks. The right candidate thrives in a cross-functional environment as the team work in close collaboration with Research, Hardware, Firmware and Software teams in multiple geographic locations. This position involves working with early technology paths, with a focus on execution and working collaboratively to manage system maturation/risk, while providing clear and effective communication across the team.
