About the role

We are seeking a Systems Engineer at Netskope's Santa Clara, CA office.

The base salary offered for this role will begin at $135,283 and up to $155,000. Salary is one part of Netskope's competitive package. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location.

What you will be doing

• Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs.

• Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.

• Update software or enhance existing software capabilities.

• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.

• Responsible for operations of large-scale cloud infrastructure and applications.

• Assist with application administration, deployments, scaling and troubleshooting complex microservice-based applications and cloud infrastructure.

• Conduct operational response to production issues and drive them to resolution.

• Perform ticket management.

• Record trouble tickets and assign based upon urgency and issue.

• Analyze alarms and trouble indicators to identify problem areas and escalate to appropriate parties.

• Ensure the continuous availability of all services.

• Manage, coordinate and communicate all network maintenances/events.

• Leverage an understanding of networking, load balancing principles, and approaches to scale out of systems.

• Create work effort estimates for assigned tasks and supports prioritization/release management.

• Respond to monitoring alerts and tickets created by our customer-facing support team.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues from our monitoring tools and support including deep-dive investigation.

• Proactively identify cloud affecting events and implement a solution before it escalates to a problem.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to resolve application issues after normal business hours. Unix/Linux Administration.

• May telecommute.

Required skills and experience

• 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a software engineer-related occupation

• Position requires at least 2 years of experience in each of the following skills:

• Solving issues within Linux systems and gathering logs to analyze current and past events

• Utilizing knowledge of Networking protocols such as ICMP and TCP to troubleshoot system level networking issues.

• Creating and using bash scripts to gather important data to solve technical issues.

• Using internal tools and system level dashboards for data analysis.

• Performing Change Management to create and execute major changes in the system.

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
