Systems Engineer, Mid
Perform complicated and difficult software and systems design engineering assignments under general supervision requiring a high degree of technical competence reflecting current stateoftheart applications. Maintain full technical responsibility for planning, organizing, and conducting technical projects in the design and development of computer systems hardware and software. Conceive and plan projects involving the assessment of basic architecture and current hardware limitations, definition, and selection of new concepts and approaches, design, develop, and implement nonroutine major software engineering applications, analyze and investigate major software engineering project tasks, define complex design specifications and parameters, develop and apply major routines and utility programs, resolve difficult hardware and software compatibility and interface design considerations, and analyze system architecture requirements and structures. Conduct independent technical investigations in software and systems design. Coordinate and consolidate design efforts on major projects. Prepare design specifications, analysis, and recommendations for presentation and approval. Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and design support personnel.
5+ years of experience with systems engineering and systems administration
Experience in working with Linux, UNIX, and Windows
Experience in working with Cloud engineering, Amazon Web Services, Big Data architectures and systems, virtualization, or Cybersecurity
Experience in working with the integration of commercial or custom software and Web services
Experience in working with Java development projects
Experience in working with relational databases and managing data and ETL processes
Experience with the software development life cycle, including Agile
Ability to work across diverse mission areas simultaneously, operate in a fastpaced environment, make effective and timely decisions, solve problems, and facilitate organizational and procedural changes
TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
Experience with scripting in Shell, Python, Perl, or Bash
Experience with Apache Tomcat
Experience with storage area network (SAN) or networkattached storage (NAS)
Experience with Internet protocols
Experience with security or vulnerability assessment
Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills to lead and work well with team members, customers, and stakeholders
BA or BS degree in CS, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field preferred; MS degree a plus
