Job Description

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

WSMV- TV, a Meredith Corporation TV station, is seeking a Systems Engineer that installs, supports, and maintains all mechanical and electronic equipment within the broadcast environment. This equipment includes video production and master control switchers, video routers, video servers, studio and ENG cameras, video monitors, audio equipment, microwave transmitters and receivers, live news trucks, intercom and IFB systems, graphics equipment, computers, and other electronic equipment generally associated with a broadcast television station.

II. Essential Job Functions

80% The Systems Engineer installs, supports, and maintains all mechanical and electronic equipment and software systems within the broadcast environment. This equipment includes video production and master control switchers, video routers, video servers, studio and ENG cameras, video monitors, audio equipment, microwave transmitters and receivers, live news trucks, intercom and IFB systems, graphics equipment, computers, and other electronic equipment generally associated with a broadcast television station. Repairs are made to component or board level as appropriate.
10% Cross-trains other members of the technical staff, and improves/updates technical job skills.
10% Performs other duties as assigned

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education: Associate's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience: Five years' experience maintaining technical equipment in a television broadcast or post-production facility preferred.

Must possess mid-level experience and knowledge of computers, servers, data infrastructure including Ethernet and fiber in support of IP and communications protocols, and computer operating systems. (Windows 7, Linux, etc.)

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Good interpersonal skills ability to effectively and cooperatively work with non-technical personnel.

Ability to prioritize and make frequent changes to work plans without loss of efficiency or composure.

Ability to make decisions quickly under pressure.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to work a flexible schedule in support of a 24x7x365 broadcast operation.

Ability to self-motivate and take initiative on critical and non-critical projects.

Solid understanding of electronics troubleshooting and repair.

Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking relating to PC function and communication with software applications in Ethernet networks.

Your Impact * Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to prospects and customers working with your Account Manager and the local partners within your territory * Identify and document specific problems with prospective and current customers which can be solved through the deployment of integrated solutions * Architect and propose validated solutions which address the identified cybersecurity problems in each unrivaled environment * Ensure ongoing customer happiness, support, and adoption * Continuous self-improvement and learning to maintain technical leadership of applicable technologies (data center, SDN, public cloud, security, networking, etc.) * Understand and effectively differentiate against our top competitors * Act as the customer advocate for any issues that require technical assistance and follow up with the customer until the issue is resolved Your Experience * Experience as a successful pre-sales SE, systems integrator, or equivalent experience * Working knowledge of Palo Alto Networks products, with a focus on Next-Generation Firewall and some comparative technologies; Continuous technical development * Experience with systems installation, configuration, and administration of routers/switches, UNIX/Linux, and Windows-based systems * Experience emphasizing L2-L4 Networks (L2 Switching architectures including Spanning Tree, IP routing that includes OSPF and BGP, and L4 Load balancing) * Understand and effectively present our security platform to technical and non-technical audiences * Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex multivariate problems and find a systematic approach to gain a quick resolution, often under duress * Mature and effective time-management skills * Prior experience selling network infrastructure based security appliances, including but not limited to: Firewalls, SSL/IPSec VPNs, Security Proxies and Caches * Familiarity working with Channel partners and understanding of a channel-centric market approach * Previous work in the enterprise networking security space * Experience and knowledge of modern network threats and malware, network forensics, automation tools and technologies, and endpoint security technologies * Significant industry certifications (SANS, CISSP, CCIE, etc) The Team As part of our Systems Engineering team, you'll support the sales team with technical expertise and guidance when establishing trust with key clients.
