SUMMARY

The Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stable operation and maintenance of MasterControls computer and networking systems and related software. The daily operation of all aspects of these systems, network infrastructure, and internal communications systems are part of the engineer's responsibilities. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, integrating, maintaining, supporting, monitoring and optimizing all Information Technology systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and monitor all installed Information Technology systems and infrastructure

  • Identifies, troubleshoots analyzes, prioritizes and resolves reported problems including voice, data, account administration, email, desktop and server hardware/software, including application issues.

  • Provides support and maintenance of network hardware and software and monitors networks to ensure their availability to system users.

  • Administers and maintains critical corporate IT systems, including email, disk subsystems and affiliated servers and systems.

  • Responsible for maintaining and deploying systems via automated methods and identifying automation opportunities to improve existing processes.

  • Research, resolve, and respond to escalated issues/problems received via email, telephone, alerting systems or walkups.

  • Documents, maintains, upgrades and or replaces hardware and software systems.

  • Documents, tracks, and monitors the problem to ensure timely resolution.

  • Manages and maintains MasterControls Virtual Environment, backup and DR systems.

  • Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security and systems groups.

  • Must stay current with the latest developments in software, hardware and related technology

  • Provides end user training where required.

  • Other Duties as assigned by the IT Director or Senior Systems Engineers

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or related field

  • More than three years' experience

  • Technical Certifications offered by product/software vendors

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, over the telephone and in e-mail.

  • Ability to communicate technical information in nontechnical terms and strong people skills are required for this position.

  • Experience with AWS/Azure Cloud platforms, Firewalls, VMware, Cisco VOIP systems and Cisco switch administration.

  • Experience in Microsoft Operating Systems, Active Directory, SSO, DFS replication and basic SQL Server administration.

  • Experience in management of network attached disk subsystems (NetApp, VSAN, etc.)

  • Experience in Backup technologies and DR implementation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to operate a computer and work at a desk for extended periods of time

  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

  • On-call availability, including weekends.
