Leidos has an opening for a Systems Engineer to work in Bowie, MD.

The successful candidate will lead complex system level design and development programs, and will be responsible for ensuring that the technical disciplines work as a team to meet requirements within schedule and cost. In cooperation with the Program Manager, the candidate will be responsible for assuring that assigned programs maintain financial controls and monitoring metrics, meet performance goals and will provide first level management responsibility for customer satisfaction.

The candidate will be the principal contributor to Systems Engineering activities which include one or more of the following: Concept of Operations Formulation, Requirements Definition, Analysis and Engineering, System Architecting, System Analysis and Design, Interface and Data Architectures, Validation and Verification, System Integration, System & Op. Performance Analysis, Lifecycle Cost Analysis & Estimation, Decision Analysis and Resolution.

An ideal candidate has experience in Communication, Electronic Warfare, and Radar Systems; hardware/software fabrication; vehicle/platform system integration; and test and evaluation. The candidate will possess superior analytical and problem solving skills, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, be a strong team player and have the ability to establish solid working relationships with technical staff members and peers within the division. The candidate will be expected to lead and mentor junior members.

Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Math, Physics, Engineering, or Operations Research from an accredited college or university

Required Skills:
Must have proven experience in design and development of sensor component or system development programs.

Direct experience in the development of communication, EW or radar components or systems, systems engineering is critical. Excellent written and oral communications skills and a Top Secret clearance are required. Minimum of 8 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility.

Qualifications * 5+ years' of experience with complex computing platforms and cutting-edge technologies involving virtualization, distribution, and high performance computing; * 3+ years of experience with virtualization technologies required; * 3+ years of experience designing and implementing commercial off the shelf technologies. * Experience in at least one automation scripting language such as Javascript, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.; * Strong technical writing and documentation skills to produce system architecture diagrams and standard operating procedures. * You are driven to solve difficult problems with scalable, elegant, and maintainable solutions; * Expert troubleshooter – unwilling to let a problem defeat you; unrelenting, persistent, confident; * A penchant for thinking outside the box to solve complex and interesting problems; and * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, technical field, or equivalent experience.
