VectorCSP is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer, Junior to work in the Bedford, MA area.

Job Summary:
Perform work that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of system engineering to the acquisition process.


  • Secret Clearance Required

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS, 4 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed.
  • OR 8 years of directly related experience.

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct reviews on project/program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline and design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications.

  • Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications.

  • Prepare technical documents which define, specify and recommend system/subsystem characteristics.

  • Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using application of engineering economy principles.

  • Perform validation of systems including development of criteria and procedures.

  • Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering systems.

  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to: acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation and operations oversight.

  • Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with Air Force SEAM processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possesses the knowledge and ability to perform tasks related to the technical/professional discipline they are performing.

  • Capable of performing: problem/gap definition, trade space analysis, science and technology roadmap analysis, "Set based design" for concept development, Multi-Objective Decision Analysis (MODA) and cost versus capability trade off analysis.

  • Capable of implementing Digital Engineering, Digital Thread and Digital Twin techniques across system Lifecycle.

MITRE's Air and Ground Surveillance team is seeking a full-time Sensor Systems Engineer with experience in the practical application of machine and deep learning. The individual will join the Sensor Systems & Battle Management, Command and Control department in applying novel Machine Learning/Deep Learning (ML/DL) technologies from across industry and academia to a variety of our nation's most critical sensing challenges. Responsibilities include: * Apply knowledge of ML/DL, signal processing, and sensor systems engineering to challenging national security problems * Support projects developing, applying and evaluating state-of-the-art algorithms/approaches for sensor systems * Develop and execute internal research in the area of ML/DL, signal processing, and sensor system analysis * Help strengthen team's expertise in ML/DL Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field * 5+ years of relevant experience Required Qualifications: * Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to possess/maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance * Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word * Must have demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, PC, presentation, and communications skills * Signal processing, detection and estimation theory, stochastic processes, numerical methods, linear algebra, applied statistics, probabilistic reasoning, graphical models, etc * Algorithm development, quantitative data analysis, and modeling and simulation of physical systems * Strong software development skills with experience using analytical software tools such as Python, C/C++, or MATLAB * Proactive self-starter with strong analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills * Experience leading cross-disciplinary technical teams * Experience managing and balancing outcomes on R&D projects Preferred Qualifications: * Advanced degree in technical field of study * Candidates that possess a current/active DoD clearance are preferred * 3+ years of experience working technical challenges associated with the application of deep/machine learning technologies to sensing applications * Knowledge of machine/deep learning techniques for pattern recognition in sensor data * Familiarity with supervised/unsupervised learning processes, performance evaluation, validation and experiment design * Ability to produce quantitative analysis benchmarking the performance of machine and deep learning algorithms/approaches against state-of-the-practice methods * Processing data collected from one or more sensing modes such as radar, SONAR, EO/IR imagers, wireless communications, etc * Familiarity with parsing, reduction, analysis, and visualization of data * Hands-on experience applying machine/deep learning libraries such as SciPy, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, Torch, Keras, Spark, etc * Ability to present technical briefs to potential sponsors MITRE's workplace reflects our values.
