Job Description

We are seeking a Journeyman System Engineer, with experience in a variety of operating systems and platforms to support team operations at Fort Meade, MD. These are full-time positions. Available upon award in June 2024.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Perform duties as the onsite Tier 3 FSR.

• Action issues/incidents/maintenance tasking from Service Desk, Jira or other stakeholder directive.

• Determine location of tool (e.g., cloud, on-prem); validate impacted system and impact level (review critical applications/services list); evaluate initial assessment against configurations/baselines; and fulfill requests.

• Conduct technical exchange of information and activities already conducted at the Tier 0-2 level, provide Tier 3 support, coordinate with CFTs and vendors for resolution.

• Coordinate with/escalate to CFT app and dev teams all issues or "major incidents" not resolvable at Tier 3 (e.g., deployments, system builds, application failures); Tier 3 will initiate proposed changes via the Change Management process within 48 hours if the issue does not impact operations.

• Manage and deploy all releases not automatically deployed by the CI/CD to any environments disconnected from the Dev Environments.

• Build, Configure and Manage any on-prem environments that are not used for dev but are included as part of the JCAP ecosystem located in MD, GA, TX and HI.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelors Degree; 4 years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree

Required Qualifications:

• 6 years of relevant experience

• Hands-on experience with Windows Server operating systems in addition to virtualization technologies such as VMware

• Hands-on experience with Power CLI/Powershell/Linux scripting methods

• Hands-on experience with Linux-based operating systems to include RHEL and/or Oracle Linux

• Hands-on system engineering experience in the full lifecycle (design, build, deployment, and O&M)

• Build and configuration management experience to include Patch Management experience

• Must possess system troubleshooting capability

• Creative problem solving

• Ability to remain on task - self-motivated and a strong communicator

Security Clearance:

• Top Secret/SCI eligible with CI polygraph, required

Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity with standard TCP/IP concepts, including design and troubleshooting;

• Familiarity with networking concepts; Cisco ASA Family, Cisco ISR Routing Platforms and Catalyst Switching platforms
