Job Description:

Raytheon Intelligence and Space is currently seeking a Systems Engineer II with a current TS/SCI security clearance w/CI poly for satellite Operations and Maintenance (O&M) positions. The selected candidate(s) will join a skilled O&M team working in a 24/7 operations environment. The O&M team is responsible for all aspects of Operations Planning and Command and Control, including monitoring day-to-day activities as well as identifying and solving challenging problems as they occur. After completion of comprehensive on-the-job training, the candidate(s) will be part of a certified team of subject matter experts that are integral to our customer's results.

Job Duties:

Work in a passionate small team environment (2-5 people)
Create and/or implement a daily operations plan using complex software and hardware systems
Obtain/maintain technical knowledge of a large repository of formal procedures with the responsibility to accurately select and apply the correct procedure(s) depending on the specific scenario at hand
Document discrepancies as they occur. Implement workarounds and contingency plans to minimize impacts of system anomalies
Cross-train in other operator positions as assigned and assist with training of other personnel on the contract team
Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

Must hold a current TS/SCI security clearance w/CI poly
Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Must have demonstrated experience performing work successfully in a collaborative environment with other organizational domains
Must have demonstrated experience with executing assigned tasks to meet technical goals
This position is in support of an integral 24/7 Operations environment. As such:
Availability for non-scheduled call-in is required
The job assignment requires working a combination of daystaff and shift schedules based on the adaptable needs of the team
Availability to work overtime is required

Desired Skills:

Experience working a rotating shift schedule
Experience giving and receiving training to/from a wide range of learning/teaching styles
Experience working in a virtual team environment
Experience using both Windows and UNIX platforms
Experience with Perl, VBA, or other scripting languages

Required Education (including Major):

Requires a Bachelors' degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field, and a minimum of 2 year's of prior relevant experience

VIEW JOBS This is a Test Evaluation and Support Team contract position (TEST2) contract position at the NASA - White Sands Test Facility. This position may be assigned to Jacobs Technology or a teammate company. Mechanical Engineer will support design, build, and testing of structural, hydraulic, propellant, pneumatic, fluid and rocket engine systems within the Propulsion Department. Prepares work authorization documents, provides direction and oversight for mechanical technicians in a union environment. May be assigned project management responsibilities. Will prepare and present informal and formal presentations to the customer and management. Performs related duties as required. BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program. Degrees in Engineering Technology are not considered to be qualifying for this position. Essential Functions: UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting. May be required to wear breathing protection (respirator), hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment. Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Typically required to lift and hold up to 30 pounds. Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency. DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex. Position requires individual to travel to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards. EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS Computer work required. Knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary. Use of calculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment is required. Operation of a govenment motor vehicle may be required. CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE Regular attendance and punctuality is required. Occasional overtime may be required in support of test project schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management or customer needs. Normal working hours are nine (9) hour per day with some flexibility based on pre-approval. A condensed work schedule, allowing alternate Fridays off, is typically in use for each two week pay cycle (9-80 schedule).
