Position Description:

As a Systems Engineer II, you will be a part of the bank's Systems Engineering & Operations (SEO) team. You will be responsible for daily production support and system administration for the software and hardware infrastructure of our Windows Server, Red Hat Linux and VMWare platforms. The responsibilities also include installing, maintaining, tuning, debugging, and performing the daily administration to keep the Bank's computer systems running and facilitate new project deliverables. Additionally, this role will be support enterprise vulnerability management and server automation/ scripting. Lastly, this role will take technical instruction from the Systems Engineer III and the Systems Engineer Consultant and report to the SEO IT Manager.

Position Requirements:

Associate's degree and a minimum of 4 years of work experience as a Windows Server engineer in an enterprise data center environment.

  • Or-

High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 years work experience as a Windows Server engineer in an enterprise data center environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum of 12 years of Window Server support experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of Red Hat Linux experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of VMWare system administration and operations experience.

  • Strong technical abilities, quick study of new technology via on the job training, the intellect to resolve complex problems logically and methodically, and good judgment to involve and communicate with vendors, senior level technicians, and management.

  • Ability to be on call 24 x 7 x 365.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Citizens Bank IT experience.

  • Proven automation technical skills.

ABB is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer - Microgrids for its Raleigh, North Carolina location. We are looking for a versatile and highly capable power systems engineer to join our team. He/she will work as part of a growing team of professionals with focus on engineering execution of microgrid system deployments in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. Collaborate with customers on full project lifecycle from technical sales support, system conceptualization and design, project commissioning, and post installation support. Your responsibilities * Typical duties include but are not limited to the following: * * 1.Technical contribution: Engineering and deployment of microgrid power systems for autonomous management of thermal generation, renewables, and energy storage resources. Design, testing and commissioning of battery and flywheel energy storage systems ranging from 100kW to 30MW. Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments. * * 2.Sales support: Assists with quotations, engineering and product team to build sufficient documents responding to customer's inquiries such as RFI's, RFP's, etc.. * * 3.Contract management: Support in issuing claims (new/change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.). Provides cost effective quality solutions as per customer requirement and delivers within budget and contract. Ensures adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks. * * 4.Planning and control: Creates work plans and cost estimates in one's area of responsibility. Reviews and approves scope, budget and schedule for assignments and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost. Improves effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions. * * 5.Risk and opportunity management: Completes risk and opportunity assessments and ensures implementation of resulting actions in one's area of responsibility. Reports any contract/quality/program/cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution. * * 6.Customer: Interacts with customers, officials, contractors and others for preliminary design of microgrid control and storage systems. Strong customer service and communication personality to support their engineering capability. * * 7.Supply chain management: Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed to with potential suppliers. Provides technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepts as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services. * * 8.Technical leadership and knowledge sharing: Coaches, provides support and technical advice to colleagues for engineering and commissioning on microgrid related projects. Maintains network of engineering professionals and share engineering best practice across different projects and disciplines. Must have excellent communications and writing skills as well as tact and professionalism working with others. * * 9.Processes and tools: Develops, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and tools. Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements. Reports processes and tools inefficiencies and suggests ideas for improvements. Your background * Basic Qualification * • Bachelor's Degree in engineering and 8+ years of experience in control systems, power systems engineering, power electronics and/or energy storage system design; OR * • Master's Degree in engineering and 6+ years of experience in control systems, power systems engineering, power electronics and/or energy storage system design. * Preferred Qualifications: * • Capability in one or more of these areas is critical as the position will be required to work in a wide range of engineering subjects. * • PLC programming experience in industrial, power generation or distribution environments. * • SCADA system design and deployment, familiarity with Modbus, DNP, IEC 61850, and related cyber security (NERC CIP). * • Engineering and/or commissioning of power electronics devices including energy storage and/or solar inverters. * • Distribution system protection design and engineering, distribution level interconnection. * • Familiarity or experience with renewable energy generation technologies as well as thermal generation (reciprocating engine, CHP, small turbines). * • ABB's microgrid projects are often installed in remote locations of the regions we serve so the ideal candidate will be comfortable with travel and work in these remote environments.
