The Role

As the Systems Engineer I (Citrix), reporting into our Sr. IT Infrastructure Manager, you will apply your knowledge and experience to architect, design, implement, maintain and administer our Citrix infrastructure. You will serve as the technical subject matter expert for Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop and PVS provisioning, and will lead our upcoming Citrix environment upgrade to 7.x (which will operate on Windows 2012 and 2016).

You will

  • Architect, implement, administrate and support the Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop and Citrix PVS infrastructure environment

  • Monitor Citrix server farm health and keep the farm up-to-date by performing necessary updates and upgrades

  • Maintain OS patches and security updates for the Citrix PVS and server farm

  • Ensure uninterrupted high availability of the Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop environment

  • Install, update and support business applications in the Citrix XenApp and XenDeskop and provide advanced end user support

  • Create and maintain documentation of the Citrix environment

  • Supply post application integration within the department, as well as the business community

  • Support Microsoft Windows; 2008R2, 2012R2 and 2016

  • Gather and assess business requirements, develop and present solutions, and produce designs and migrating strategy

  • Troubleshoot incidents, determine root cause and implement solutions with documentation and preventive measures

You will also

  • Support VMware 6.x / 7.x environments

  • Assist call center technicians and systems engineering team on tier 3 issues

  • Assist in the development, implementation and testing of disaster avoidance and recovery, including policies and procedures

  • Be open to providing after-hours and weekend support, as needed

  • Travel up to 20%, as needed, to support locations outside of headquarters in Itasca, IL

What You Bring to the Team

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Citrix technologies architecting, designing and implementing enterprise systems to include:

  • XenApp 6.x and 7.x, running on Citrix PVS 7.x architecture

  • Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop/Storefront 6.x/7.x

  • Citrix NetScaler, Citrix Cloud Bridge

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server OS and MSCS (Microsoft Cluster Service)

  • Experience with VMware vSphere 5.x and 6.x

  • Additional technical experience in the following:

  • Windows Active Directory (AD) Domains integration and interaction with the network, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS and WINS

  • PowerShell

  • Microsoft SQL 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2016

  • Azure Cloud Computing

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact with users of varying technical skill levels

  • Strong project management and prioritization abilities

  • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Experience working with and establishing vendor relationships

  • A continuous improvement mindset

  • A teamwork mentality

  • The ability to adapt to changing technologies, new processes and requirements

You May Also Have

  • Technical certifications in Microsoft and Citrix are preferred
