The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a systems engineer, typically as an integral member of an integrated product team (IPT), and provide systems engineering support, analytical expertise in areas related to the planning, designing, development, and testing of all types of C2 systems.

Applies a broad and theoretical and practical knowledge of system engineering to the system acquisition process.
Technically directs contractor conducted program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, and design and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved.
Performs program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, system engineering programs, design and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is acheived in accordance with the contract.
Prepares technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics. Prepares management reports and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience providing systems engineering support throughout the systems acquisition process specifically related to the planning, designing, development, and testing of various types of systems.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1.Knowledge of principals, policies, and practices of system acquistion.
2.Knowledge of the management and engineering principles applicable to the technologies of intelligence, communications, threat warning systems and information systems, and computer software.
3.Knowledge of the organization's functions and relationships with AFLCMC and higher headquarters.
4.Knowledge of latest developments in applicable technologies.
5.Knowledge of the requirements of acquisition management in planning, implementing and evaluating contractor's requirements and proposals.
6.Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
7.Skill in planning and organizing critical aspects of development and production of highly complex systems, subsystems, and equipment.
8.Knowledge of procedures of required to test and evaluate electronic systems and subsystems.
9.Ability to lead technical teams formed to resolve issues, generate technical documents or perform a source selection.
10. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
